Job description
On behalf of DWP, we are looking for a Estates Energy and Sustainability Project Manager for a 6 months Inside IR35 contract based Hybrid in either Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Sheffield, Manchester, Birmingham, Blackpool, Cardiff, London.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is responsible for welfare, pensions, and child maintenance policy. As the UK's biggest public service department, it administers the State Pension and a range of working age, disability and ill health benefits to around 20 million claimants and customers. Reporting to Head of Energy and Sustainability, this role will support the drive, development and delivery of DWP's Sustainability and carbon reduction activities with a focus on supporting the Workplace Transformation Programme (WPT) deliver its sustainability goals.
As a Estates Energy and Sustainability Project Manager , your main responsibilities will be to:
Lead and manage projects related to delivering our Greening Government Commitment targets across estates, with support from other team members.
Deliver strategic goals and projects pertaining to department and governmental targets on carbon reduction and other sustainability targets (such as water, biodiversity etc) within the Estates team.
Create, implement and update project plans, schedules that prioritise carbon reduction and resource efficiency. Incorporate sustainable materials, technologies, and practices into all project phases to minimise environmental impacts.
Track project's progress not only on traditional metrics such as time and budget but also on carbon emissions and energy usage. Implement data-driven adjustments to keep the project aligned with sustainability targets.
Ensure projects are completed on time and within budget while also achieving DWP sustainability design benchmarks.
Communicate the importance of carbon reduction to colleagues, contractors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders. Ensure that all parties understand and support the project's sustainability objectives
Essential:
Demonstrable professional expertise in management role/s leading on sustainability issues and carbon reduction projects with a strong practical background of managing and implementing initiatives in a large organisation, particularly around retrofit and refurbishment
In depth knowledge and understanding of complying with related Statutory, regulatory frameworks and legislative or policy requirements with a preference for the Real Estate and FM/Property industry and Civil Service
Excellent stakeholder engagement at all levels
Evidence of delivering initiatives that are at the forefront of utilities, energy and carbon management setting prioritisation, delivery at pace and working to tight timescales
Public sector experience
Desirable:
Prince 2/ APMP or equivalent experience
