Location: Leeds

Hours: 40 hours per week, days

On behalf of our client, a leading company in the food industry, we are currently recruiting a passionate and motivated Process Technologist to join their New Product Development (NPD) team.

About the Role:

As a Process Technologist, you will play a key role in supporting the development and launch of new products for both own-brand and branded customers. Reporting to the NPD Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful execution of process development, factory trials, and product functionality. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive a continuous improvement agenda focused on quality, sustainability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Development: Work with NPD Managers to create and refine products from concept to launch.
  • Process Development: Plan, prepare, and execute process development and line trials to meet customer requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and facilitate opportunities for process and product enhancements.
  • Sample Management: Manage the creation and delivery of product samples for customers, ensuring timely and accurate dispatch.
  • Factory Trials: Support factory trials, including arranging necessary testing (microbiological, nutritional, etc.).
  • Project Management: Lead and manage cross-functional projects to meet customer and internal deadlines.
  • Benchmarking & Reviews: Conduct quarterly benchmarking, seasonal product reviews, and update NPD specification grids.

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • A real passion for food and a well-developed palate.
  • Driven, motivated, and detail-oriented.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • IT literate with excellent English speaking and writing skills.
  • Ability to plan and organize tasks effectively within tight deadlines.
  • Good teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A 2.1 Degree (or equivalent) in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related field.
  • Experience in chilled food manufacturing and/or FMCG environments.
  • A valid driving license.
