Your new role
Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Assistant Estimator to join our commercial construction team based in Rotherham. As an Assistant Estimator, you'll collaborate with senior estimators, analyse project requirements, and contribute to accurate and competitive bids.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in preparing comprehensive scopes of work for potential construction projects.
  • Gather essential information from senior estimators and distribute it to relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the estimating team to analyse project documents, including plans, specifications, and bid packages.
  • Estimate material quantities, labour costs, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Consider market trends and historical data to ensure precise estimates.
  • Familiarity with conquest projects (winning bids from competitors) is a plus.
  • Understand competitive pricing strategies and adjust estimates accordingly.
  • Participate in client meetings alongside senior estimators or sales representatives.
  • Tailor estimates effectively based on client needs and preferences.
  • Document and deploy weekly safety talks to hourly employees.
  • Support critical safety compliance initiatives.

What you will need to succeed:

  • Undergraduate degree, or a higher national diploma in construction management or quantity surveying which includes units in contract tendering and estimating costs. Construction experience, preferably in commercial construction (project size: £100,000 - £5 million).
  • Knowledgeable about construction codes and processes.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
