Job title: Cover Supervisor

Location: Armley Grange School, Leeds, LS12 3QH

Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8:30 - 16:30

Salary: £24,000 to £30,000 per annum depending on experience

Contract: Permanent, Term Time only

Start date: January 2025

As part of our continued growth, we now have a fantastic opportunity for a Cover Supervisor to join our close-knit team at Armley Grange, part of Options Autism.

About the Role

No two days are the same at Armley Grange so we want staff who can work at pace to turn 'can't do' into 'want to' and are motivated by working with pupils with special needs. You will be motivated by your belief that every pupil can achieve and reach their potential. The ideal candidate will be resilient, have a calm and engaging demeanour and enjoy working with pupils.

  • To cover some timetabled classes throughout the week in addition to covering general absence etc.
  • Deliver high quality lessons and occasionally deal with challenging behaviour in the classroom.
  • Making sure all students are focused and on track to meeting the lesson objectives.
  • Prepare the classroom for lessons.
  • Help any students who are struggling with the work set for their cover lessons.
  • Undertake such duties as are delegated by SLT.

Responsibilities

  • To carry out duties of a school teacher as set out in the current School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document.
  • To carry out the duties of a general class teacher as detailed in the school's class teacher job description.
  • To be responsible for teaching in an autistic setting.
  • To provide additional capacity to our Teaching Assistant team when required.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE Maths and English
  • Good standard of numeracy & literacy skills
  • Willingness to undertake further relevant training

Armley Grange is a new specialist school for young people with complex communication needs, autism and associated learning and emotional needs. A specialist school equipped with the latest technology, sensory provision and specialist teaching spaces with the needs of the pupils in mind.

Armley Grange is a day school that caters for pupils from 5 years to 19 years old. A specialist curriculum will be provided blending specialist teaching around communication, sensory and behaviour approaches with aiming for each pupil to achieve their goals and aspirations and to reach their potential, equipping them to make their way in the world.

For over 16 years Options Autism have provided care and education to pupils, young people and adults with autism, complex needs and learning difficulties.
