Job description

Overview i3 is seeking an Engineering Technician to support a unique and complex Army engineering effort located in Huntsville, Alabama. The qualified candidate will be responsible for providing high-level technical and engineering support and leadership. The position involves collaborating with civilian government personnel and a diverse team of engineering professionals to ensure project goals and timelines are achieved. The candidate can expect up to 10% travel. Responsibilities Supports engineering activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro-mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry or specialized test equipment. Applications may include analog, digital and/or video circuits, and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Act as part of a team executing assembly of prototype and low-rate initial production systems and subassemblies. Follow continuous improvement processes to ensure efficient assembly and enhancement of work instructions. Contribute to status updates and support constructive communication within the team. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in a technical field required. Additional experience may substitute for degree. 17-22 years of relevant experience. Experience in the of use of hand tools, measurement devices, and personal protective equipment. Experience using Personal Protective Equipment. Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams. Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of office administration and procedures. Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills. Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully. Interact with a diverse array of customers and staff in a professional and courteous manner. Work independently with accountability for accurate and complete results. Be extremely organized and exceptionally detail oriented. Work well both independently and in a team environment. Be energized by a fast-paced work environment. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
