Job description

Torch is seeking a Junior Level Modeling and Simulation Software Engineer to work on cutting-edge missile defense systems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Responsibilities include development and architecting simulation framework code, algorithm development, integration and execution with external models, and software product lifecycle support. Candidate must demonstrate problem solving skills and quickly gain domain specific knowledge. Work will be performed both individually and as part of a larger development team, including interacting with analysts and end users to identify and correct software defects and new capabilities. The candidate must be willing and able to dive deep into the existing codebase to analyze system behavior with the intent of making system improvements, identify potential issues and analyze performance. Excellent communication skills are required to effectively present missile defense system architecture and performance to the government customer and the missile defense system stakeholder community. Travel may be required to support live fire missile tests. This role offers the opportunity to directly contribute to the success and safety of the warfighter. The position is located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. Job Requirements B.S. or B.S.E in Physics, Computer Science, Computer Eng, Mech Eng, Aerospace Eng, or Math, or Statistics from an ABET accredited university Desired Experience: 2-5 years Java, C++, and Python Clearance: Secret or higher 0-10% travel Desired skills: Linux computing environment Modeling and Simulation architectures Team-based Software Development Tools (Git, GitLab, etc.) Object Oriented Design and Programming (OOD/OOP) Software threading and network communications Multi-language programming Prior experience supporting military defense systems is a plus Position requires that candidate meet requirements to obtain a final security clearance in order to access classified information. Inability to obtain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
