Aerojet defines the requirements and supports the manufacturing for all Ignition Safety Devices (ISD), Arm Fire Devices (AFD), and Safe Arm Fuze (SAF) components that are used to ignite our rocket motors. Our increased production requires increased delivery from key sub tier suppliers for these critical components. Aerojet requires a lead manufacturing engineer to support our sub tier suppliers in increasing their manufacturing throughput, eliminate bottlenecks, and support various failure investigations and process improvement initiatives.
This position will support all programs and multiple sub tier suppliers in developing requirements, testing, manufacturing, and non-conformance resolutions for ISD/AFD/SAF components. A strong knowledge USG safety requirements related to initiation devices is required. Additional knowledge of primary explosives is desired. This position requires professional judgement and use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts of manufacturing. The selected individual will understand/review Standard Operating Procedures related to ignition components. The selected individual will participate in all work stops, production bottleneck reviews, and failure investigations pertaining to ignition components. The individual will be self-motivated and will accurately report problems, solutions, and results in concise written and oral communications.
This position will be a dynamic position - moving from various programs to assess production, production bottlenecks, failures, non-conformances, and technology to increase yield and production throughput.
