Position Description: The Senior Payload Integration Engineer will perform Gateway and Advanced Exploration Systems (AES) research payload integration support for the Gateway Program Mission Integration and Utilization Office (MI&U) and AES Mission Operations and Integration (MO&I) Office with NASAs International Space Station (ISS) Projects Office at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). The Senior Payload Integration Engineer responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Coordinating with Gateway module providers and subsystem managers regarding research systems, research payload integration, and utilization support. Coordinating with Artemis Program personnel regarding research systems, payload integration, and utilization support. Developing Artemis-level and/or Gateway payload integration processes and implementation plans, users guides, and other utilization documentation. Representing the MI&U and/or AES MO&I to potential payload developers. Developing payload-specific documentation (interface requirements documents, integration agreements, operations products, etc.). Supporting payload developers in integrating their systems into the Gateway. Reviewing technical documentation and requirements. Authoring technical documentation, including AES utilization interoperability documents. Developing presentations for and supporting Gateway-related and AES-related control boards, panels, and working groups. Supporting Gateway, Artemis, and payload milestone reviews and action closures. Attend, participate, and support Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) and Project Reviews. Provide inputs to the identification of action items, action closures, and minutes. Qualifications: A degree in Engineering or related field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited university is preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 19 years of experience, MS with at least 23 years of experience, or BS with at least 25 years of experience. The following skills and experience are required: ISS or other spacecraft payload facility and/or research payload integration experience and a working knowledge of the NASA research payload integration processes and principles. Understanding of the processes required to prepare hardware/payloads for launch and operations in a microgravity environment, including the processes associated with reviews, documentation, quality and safety. Strong problem-solving and stakeholder coordination skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. The following experience/knowledge is desired: Systems engineering experience. Hardware integration experience. Experience with technical data integration and knowledge of web-based tools such as WebEx, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint. Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
