Job description
Responsibilities PeopleTec is currently seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support our Huntsville, AL and/or Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD location. The Senior Systems Engineer will be a key leader in the development, integration, and maintenance of an US Army DOD customer Digital Engineering Environment. This role requires a deep understanding of systems engineering principles, experience with complex defense systems, and expertise in digital engineering to drive the evolution of engineering processes and technologies that support U.S. Army missions. Duties Include: System Design & Integration: Work with Enterprise Architect to lead the design, development, and integration of complex systems within the Digital Engineering Environment, ensuring alignment with customer objectives and U.S. Army requirements. Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams and stakeholders, guiding them in the application of systems engineering processes, tools, and best practices. Requirements Management: Develop, manage, and validate system requirements, ensuring that they are well-documented, traceable, and aligned with project goals. Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE): Champion the use of MBSE methodologies, tools, and frameworks to enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of system development processes. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software engineers, data engineers, cybersecurity experts, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and operation of digital systems. Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate technical risks associated with system development and integration, ensuring the reliability and security of solutions deployed within the Digital Engineering Environment. System Testing & Validation: Oversee system testing, validation, and verification activities, ensuring that systems meet all performance, safety, and security requirements. Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance systems engineering processes, tools, and methodologies within the organization. Documentation & Reporting: Ensure the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, design documents, test plans, and engineering reports. Technology Evaluation: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices, recommending and implementing new solutions that enhance the capabilities of the Digital Engineering Environment. Qualifications Required Skills/Experience : Minimum of 6-10 years of experience in systems engineering, with a focus on complex defense systems and digital engineering environments. Technical Skills: Proficiency in systems engineering tools and methodologies, including MBSE, SysML, and requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS). Leadership: Proven experience leading engineering teams and managing large, complex projects within a defense or government setting. Communication: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Travel: Less than 15 % Must be a U.S. Citizen An active DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this work. Candidates are required to have an active Secret clearance upon hire, and the ability to maintain this level of clearance during their employment. Education Requirements : Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is required. A Master's degree or higher is strongly preferred. Desired Skills : Experience within the DoD or a similar environment is highly preferred. Certifications: INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or equivalent certification is preferred.
