Seeking a highly qualified Directed Energy (DE) Software Systems Engineer in the Huntsville, AL area supporting a Project Office at Redstone Arsenal. Develops plans and provides technical expertise in formulating data driven decisions about the progress of prototype DE weapon system(s) technical maturity. Applies broad, comprehensive knowledge of functional policies, procedures, and techniques and reviews and recommends revisions for software processes, policies, and standing operating procedures, ensuring full integration with Government policies and procedures. The Candidate will assist the Government Program Manager in the following mission areas: Planning, developing, and executing the program by providing researched and detailed advice; prioritizing issues for the Program Manager and filter issues as assigned; and preparing briefings, information papers, and talking points for the Program Manager. Job Responsibilities Apply sound acquisition and systems software engineering practices and principles to all assigned projects.
Support the Product Office team as the software lead and ensure all software requirements are met.
Provide assistance in ensuring cost, schedule, and performance of the system(s) are met.
Identify and track software risk areas for the program, formulate and implement risk mitigation plans.
Assist in writing and review of Statements of Work (SOW), perform technical evaluations of contractor proposals and support contractual activities.
Provide key software technical expertise for software documentation reviews (DO-178 documentations set).
Support software sustainment activities.
Desired Qualifications: Wide range of experience including system engineering, system testing, system fielding Experience with government directed energy/radar/electronic warfare Experience in PWS/SOW evaluation and writing Required Experience: Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
5-10 years of experience in Software Sytems Engineering Required Skills: Active Secret / Top Secret Eligible
Background working digital interoperability and data links (i.e., BFT-2, VMF, Link 16, Tactical Data links etc.)
US citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
Strong ability to multitask in a high paced environment and operate independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to present complex material to government customer concisely with recommended course of action.
Proficiency in MS Office & MS Teams.
Mechanical Aptitude - Ability to work with the OEM to evaluate solutions for Technical Insertion Points. Software Aptitude - Ability to work with the OEM to evaluate ability of software to operate effectively and protect warfighters. EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disabled
