Job description

Duties The purpose of this position is to conduct planning, developing, implementing, and reviewing of resident training and distance learning material. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Makes recommendations for changes to courses and modules that involve substantive rather than procedural matters Maintains liaison with training program instructors and training specialists from other agency programs to obtain information for resident and distance learning projects and activities Recommends modifications for courses and rate training materials. Develops and adapts resident and distance learning materials/methods as needed Evaluates the effectiveness of the application of education/training principles to routine resident and distance learning training problems and deficiencies Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship is required. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service. This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. This includes Time-In-Grade requirements for current status employees applying through merit promotion procedures. Qualifications Qualifications for GS-9: At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 grade level. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples include: Instructing in a military setting in which you're the subject matter expert for a complex system or task. Collaborate with Coast Guard instructional systems designers in developing or modifying course material or curriculum outlines. Evaluating instructional content for relevance and accuracy for a given subject. Instructing courses that utilize varied media including facilitated online learning. Or Master's or equivalent graduate degree. Or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for the GS-9 grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
