Backup System Administrator Full Time Montgomery, AL Secret clearance This position is contingent upon contract award Overview: Semper Valens is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Backup System Administrator to support the AFINC III contract with the 26th Network Operations Squadron (26NOS) at Maxwell Air Force Base-Gunter Annex, Alabama. The 26 NOS is responsible for the intranet support of the entire Air Force network, operating and defending the Air Force (AF) Enterprise computer network, including the AF Wide Area Network (WAN) routers, AF Network Increment 1 (AFNET Inc 1) Gateways, and the 26 NOS Local Area Network (LAN) assets. The Backup System Administrator will be responsible for implementing and maintaining enterprise storage area networks (SAN), supporting virtualization infrastructure, and ensuring effective provisioning, installation, and maintenance of storage-related infrastructure. Responsibilities: Implement and maintain enterprise SAN hardware (e.g., EMC VNX, Dell Compellent), fiber channel switches (e.g., Brocade, Dell/EMC), host bus adapters (HBA), and software systems (e.g., Unisphere, Dell Storage Manager, CMCNE, WebTools, SANnav). Support the virtualization team in infrastructure maintenance, including storage vMotion, datastores, and tiering. Assist with enterprise backup strategies and systems, including Veritas NetBackup and tape library units. Proactively monitor storage service environments and establish/recommend system/service policies. Ensure effective provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of enterprise-wide storage infrastructure for both production and disaster recovery environments. Respond to system faults by analyzing and correcting applications or errors to restore service. Plan and perform strategic patching, system upgrades, software/firmware updates, and hardware diagnosis/repairs for SAN components, including controllers, disk array enclosures (DAE), storage processors, fiber channel operating systems, and related infrastructure. Support the installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of servers (e.g., Dell PowerEdge, HPe ProLiant) and related infrastructure devices such as KVMs, out-of-band management (OOBM) tools like integrated lights-out (ILO), iLO Amplifier, and Dell Remote Access Controllers (iDRAC). Qualifications/Requirements: Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience with SAN products. Experience with one or more operating systems: Windows, UNIX, Linux, VMware. Solid knowledge of network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, SSH, LDAPS, and SCP. Exposure to physical servers and virtualized environments, such as VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi hosts, SAN datastores, and host bus adapters (HBA). Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to follow policies and procedures. Experience maintaining, overseeing, and troubleshooting computers and related peripheral equipment, performing preventative maintenance in accordance with department policies. Ability to lift, rack, and provision government-furnished equipment (GFE). Education: Technical degree, Associate's, or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Alternatively, 2-4 years of relevant experience in Information Technology, preferably within system or application administration. Certifications: Must hold one of the following DoD 8570.01-M Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certifications: CompTIA Security+ CE CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) CE (ISC) Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) GIAC Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional (GICSP) GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC) Requires the Dell Certified Associate Information Storage and Management (DCA-ISM) certification.
