Title:
Project Engineer / Electrical Engineering Focus (On-Site) Kord Technologies, LLC a wholly owned subsidiary of KBR Wyle Services, LLC is seeking a Project Engineer with a focus in electronic circuit architecture, design best practices, and power electronics used in missile systems. Knowledge and/or experience in radio frequency (RF) sensors is a plus. The Project Engineer will be a part of the lead systems integration (LSI) team for the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System (GMLRS) upgrade that is used on the HIMARS and M270 MLRS launcher platforms. As the LSI, KORD is focused on providing functional and product architecture, requirements definition, decomposition, and traceability at both the system and component levels of the GMLRS missile. For this role as the Project Engineer, it includes leading the maturation of GMLRS subsystems through the development process from concept to qualification. The role for the Project Engineer (PE) will support the Technical Lead Engineer, Lead Systems Engineer, and the Program Manager across functional disciplines for the design, development, integration, and testing of the GMLRS missile upgrades.
The PE will have the opportunity to gain experience from a highly skilled engineering team to enhance his/her professional development while also gaining depth of knowledge of the GMLRS missile system.
The PE will have the opportunity to witness system level flight tests of the upgraded GMLRS missile at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR).
Should have experience in at least one key electronic sub-system of a missile, (e.g., electronic safe and arm fuze (ESAF), guidance set, RF sensor, electronic initiation safety device (EISD and be proactive in closing technical knowledge gaps to develop an understanding of the intent of all sub-systems that will make up the GMLRS upgrade.
Takes ownership in the successful development of subsystem up to component qualification and support the integration into the overall missile system
Support the tracking of system engineering metrics to measure the development progress of the GMLRS upgrade program
Lead subsystem related IPT and WG meetings with subcontractors and members of Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC), Redstone Test Center (RTC), AMCOM Safety, and STORM Project Office members
Supports the system and software safety engineering team in the review and development of system and software safety documentation per MIL-STD-882E
Supports the system and software safety engineering team during the Army Fuze Safety Review Board (AFSRB) and software safety technical review panel (SSTRP) meetings
Works with the test engineering team in the evaluation of subcontractor test plans and verification matrices
Works with the test engineering team to evaluate the test hardware plan vs the verification needs
Leads subcontractors to successful design reviews per the program entrance and exit criteria
Identifies program risks for risk board review
Develops and executed mitigation plans for approved risks
Evaluate subcontractor SDRLs to ensure compliance with customer requirements
Aid in the development of CDRLs to support key program design reviews
Support the traceability of subsystem hardware and firmware requirements to the top-level missile system.
Lead manufacturing verification activities for the subsystem, e.g., Pilot Line Verification (PLV)
Support failure investigation teams and assist in root cause analysis and corrective action development Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college in an Electrical Engineering or equivalent,
Ability to obtain and/or maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
10 to 12 years or more of related experience in the following:
Electronic circuit architecture
Design best practices
Power electronics used in missile systems.
Knowledge and/or experience in radio frequency (RF) sensors is a plus. Desired: Hardware, firmware, and software integration experience
Ability to work across program teams to identify and resolve problems
Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and document, present, and explain technical information
Confident in technical prowess, thinks before speaking, anticipates and prepares for questions when presenting to stakeholders
