Job description

We are seeking a skilled PRN Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our team on an as-needed basis. This position offers flexibility and the opportunity to work alongside experienced therapists to deliver high-quality rehabilitative care to patients of all ages.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Occupational Therapists in conducting patient evaluations and assessments to determine functional status and develop treatment plans.
  • Implement individualized treatment programs designed to improve patients' ability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, and fine motor skills.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, including therapeutic exercises, activities, and modalities.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic techniques and adaptive equipment to facilitate independence and enhance functional abilities.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, outcomes, and response to treatment interventions.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated patient care and optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries.

Requirements:

  • Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) issued by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
  • State licensure or eligibility for licensure as a COTA in Alabama.
  • CPR certification (BLS).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced clinical environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a healthcare setting, preferably in rehabilitation or skilled nursing facilities.
  • Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations related to occupational therapy services.
  • Specialized training or certification in areas such as geriatrics, pediatrics, or neurorehabilitation.

Working Conditions:

  • PRN (as-needed) position with flexible scheduling based on departmental needs and candidate availability.
  • Potential to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
