Job description

This position requires an in-depth knowledge of Rules, Regulations, Technics, and Procedures related to aircraft deicing. Responsibilities The Deicing Manager is responsible for overseeing the Operation, Maintenance of Equipment, and Training of the Deicing Staff necessary for the removal of winter contaminants, such as snow and ice, from aircraft critical surfaces prior to takeoff. The Deicing Manager must be able to operate our fleet of deicers, and remain a fully qualified Deicing Equipment Operator, to include dual and single truck operator, as well as an Approved Deicing trainer. The Deicing Manager will help train other staff to a demonstrated acceptable level of capability with the deicing equipment.
The Deicing Manager reports to the Director of Ground Handling.
The Deicing Manager will help maintain the serviceability of the deice equipment by supporting GSE and Quality departments with scheduling and completion of Preseason, mid-season, and End of Season deicing truck inspections. The Deicing Manager will be responsible for oversight of the deicing fluid storage station used to supply the deice trucks with fluids. The Deicing Manager will be responsible to help perform fluid tests and ensure the proper training of acceptance, mixing and distribution of fluids from the deice facility by other deicing specialists.
Represent the company in routine daily interactions with airline customers, passengers, airport officials, regulatory agencies, and other interested parties.
Schedules and assists with the Training of Staff for Deicing operations.
Participate in the development, and implementation, of operational policies and procedures for aircraft deicing.
Identify operational needs and participate in the formation of plans to address them.
Schedule will be flexible and based upon weather and/or the needs of service.
Coordinate and Liaise with Company, Regulatory Agencies, and Customer Auditors as required for Deicing. Aircraft de-icing / anti-icing of all Customer aircraft as needed. Qualifications Must Possess a valid Driver's License
Be at least 18 years of age
Must have Minimum 2 years' experience with aircraft deicing procedures and equipment
Must have Experience supervising teams of 10+ persons at a time
Previous Aircraft Ground Handling Experience preferred
Must be familiar with deicer truck operations Must be willing to work in inclement weather
Must be comfortable with heights. Must have good communication skills
Must be a U.S. citizen or show proof of right to work in the U.S.
High School graduate or GED
Able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English
Ability to work under stressful situations and tight time constraints in a fast-paced environment
Self-motivated, team player
Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules during winter events. Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal history, and pre-employment drug test
Language Skills: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Write routine reports and correspondenc Completes required documentation for deicing. Speak effectively one-on-one and before groups of customers or employees of the organization
Math skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Reasoning Abilities: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form.
Deal with problems involving operations and staffing.
Physical Demands: moderate. The Deicing Manager on occasion may lift, or move with help, up to 70 pounds and/or more. They may frequently lift or move 70 to 100 pounds with help, and constantly lift or move up to 50 pounds. Aircraft Deicing Manager is regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and are frequently required to stand, walk. They may be required to climb, sit, and balance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
Deicing Manager typically work outside and are exposed to all types of weather conditions with a seasonal range of temperatures which include rain, snow, wind and extreme temperatures.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can vary dramatically depending on location and time of day. Occasionally high noise levels where hearing protection is required and provided.
