The Adult Education Program Coordinator, based in Alaska, is responsible for the daily operations of adult education programs across one or more regions in Alaska, as determined by current grant requirements. This role delivers a mix of in-person, virtual, distance, and hybrid education services to diverse adult learners. Primary duties include providing direct instruction in subjects such as math, reading, writing, science, social studies, English language skills, GED preparation, computer skills, and college/career readiness. The Coordinator ensures the quality and consistency of programming, supporting students and staff across multiple sites to meet program standards and achieve learning goals. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field Alaska Teaching Certificate preferred Experience in program coordination, especially in remote or multi-site environments Ability to work with adult learners from diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds Experience assessing student academic levels and developing individualized study plans Ability to recognize and address learning needs in various subject areas, including GED preparation, English language development, digital literacy, and career readiness Familiarity with high school equivalency requirements and GED Testing standards Proficiency with technology to support communication, collaboration, and implementation of hybrid and distance education services The Adult Education Program Coordinator manages program operations across one or more regions in Alaska, providing quality instruction and support services in various formats, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid settings. This role requires the ability to engage adult learners, maintain effective communication with internal and external partners, and track program impact through data analysis and secure record-keeping. Duties and Responsibilities: Program Oversight and Administration: Oversee daily operations for assigned regional program sites, including staffing, training, promotion, outreach, and implementation of adult education services Recruit, screen, onboard, and provide ongoing support to rural tutors and volunteers, ensuring effective service delivery and alignment with program goals Establish and coordinate staff schedules, learning center hours, class schedules, and orientation sessions for students Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and implement Integrated Education and Training programs tailored to regional needs Manage program budgets, monitor expenditures, and prepare required reports, including those for grant compliance Participate in state and federal monitoring processes to ensure program adherence to standards Instructional Support and Direct Teaching: Provide direct instruction to individuals and groups across core adult education subjects, including math, reading, writing, science, social studies, English language skills, GED preparation, computer skills, and college/career readiness Assess students' skill levels to develop tailored study plans that meet individual educational and career goals Administer state-approved assessments and monitor timelines for student evaluations and progress tracking Design and adapt instructional resources for effective teaching in both in-person and distance learning environments Create and maintain safe, supportive, student-centered learning environments that foster engagement and success Student Services and Engagement: Conduct orientation sessions that include a description of services, enrollment procedures, assessments, and individualized study plan development Actively recruit new students and respond to inquiries from potential students, family members, and referring partner agencies Ensure students receive comprehensive services, including referrals to partner agencies Maintain accurate student records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy standards Community and Partner Collaboration: Develop strong relationships with school officials, community leaders, and partner agencies to support student success and program growth Promote adult education programs through outreach, partner communication, and social media channels Coordinate with community organizations to extend services and resources to adult learners across multiple regions Grant Writing and Program Development: Identify funding opportunities and assist in writing grant applications to support program expansion and resource availability Conduct or coordinate professional development opportunities for instructional staff, rural tutors, and volunteers Other Responsibilities: Participate in relevant meetings, teleconferences, and student events Perform other duties as assigned to ensure program success and meet organizational goals The Adult Education Program Coordinator manages program operations across one or more regions in Alaska, providing quality instruction and support services in various formats, including in-person, virtual, and hybrid settings. Position Location: The SERRC office is located in Juneau, Alaska. Student need is in the Anchorage-area. Work location is negotiable, travel will be required. Working Hours: Work hours are typically 8:00am-4:30pm AKST. Salary & Benefits: $35/hr for a 190-day contract July-June. SERRC offers an excellent benefits package, including State of Alaska retirement plans (TRS/PERS), health benefits, and sick and annual/personal leave, depending on the length of the employment contract. Employees who work 173 days or more during the contract year are eligible for full-time benefits. Employees who work between 115 and 172 days are eligible for pro-rated health benefits. Hourly employees who are scheduled to work 15 hours per week or less are not eligible for benefits. All employees are eligible to participate in an employee-sponsored 403(b) plan and AFLAC.
