General Purpose
Under supervision, performs firefighting, rescue, and emergency medical duties to control emergency incidents and protect lives and property in the City. Successful candidates are required to attend a designated Fire Academy.

While in the Academy, recruits earn $24.8794 hourly based on a 40-hour workweek. Upon successful completion, recruits are classified as Firefighters with a rate of $19.8997 hourly based on a 56-hour workweek.

Candidates must provide proof of Arizona EMT-B or EMT-P certification or a Nationally Registered EMT/Paramedic certification. Proof of successful CPAT completion within the past 12 months is also required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls, perform fire suppression, rescue, and medical duties.
Mitigate hazards, handle emergency and hazardous material incidents.
Operate emergency, fire, and rescue equipment; coordinate with law enforcement and other responders.
Maintain fire department facilities, equipment, and supplies; clean and return equipment to service.
Assist in maintaining emergency response records and perform vehicle and equipment maintenance.
Inspect buildings for fire hazards and compliance; participate in fire investigations.
Assist in emergency medical and fire training for volunteers and conduct public education activities.
Perform additional duties as required.
Minimum Requirements
Education and Experience:

High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Special Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years old at the time of hire.
EMT or Paramedic certification required.
Valid Arizona drivers license.
Completion of probationary period and Emergency Driving Course.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Understanding of fire department policies and firefighting techniques.
Familiarity with city geography and facility hazards.
Ability to respond effectively under stress, recognize building structures, and apply firefighting techniques.
Proficiency in emergency medical procedures.
Maintenance and repair of firefighting equipment.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
Work is conducted outdoors and indoors at emergency sites and fire station facilities.

Supplemental Information
The City of Casa Grande Fire Department offers testing services for the Firefighter - Recruit position through the National Testing Network (NTN). Candidates must register and complete testing on the NTN website. Scores are forwarded to the Casa Grande Fire Department, which will then contact eligible candidates for further selection stages.
