Senior Estimator Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for large-scale construction projects. This position requires a deep understanding of construction processes, pricing strategies, and project requirements to ensure successful bidding and project execution. The Senior Estimator will work closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive estimates and support project planning and execution.

Senior Estimator Responsibilities

• Develop detailed and accurate cost estimates for heavy civil construction projects, including highways, bridges, and environmental projects.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine scope and requirements.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs, cost analyses, and pricing for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor work.
• Coordinate with project managers and engineering teams to gather and review project information.
• Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring compliance with all requirements and deadlines.
• Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiate pricing, and select vendors to optimize project costs.
• Conduct cost analysis to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
• Develop and maintain cost databases, historical cost data, and estimating tools to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, engineers, and field staff, to ensure accurate and realistic estimates.
• Maintain detailed records of estimates, bid proposals, and correspondence related to bidding processes.
• Prepare reports and presentations on estimating activities, bid results, and project cost performance for senior management.

Senior Estimator Position Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience preferred
• 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on heavy civil projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes, cost estimation techniques, and industry standards.
• Proven experience in preparing detailed cost estimates and bid proposals for large-scale projects.
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with the ability to interpret complex project data and specifications.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
