POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Open Pit Operations Mine Manager to lead and optimize our mining activities including optimizing production, haulage, and drill and blast operations . The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of open pit mining processes, coupled with strong leadership skills to drive employee performance. This integral role requires a dynamic leader capable of managing diverse responsibilities while ensuring safe operational excellence and team development.

Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a multifaceted team, including production, haulage, drill, and blast personnel.
  • Foster a collaborative and results-driven work culture.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.


Production Management:
  • Develop and execute production plans to meet and exceed Mine Plan Targets.
  • Implement strategies to enhance production efficiency and output.
  • Monitor and analyze production data, identifying areas for improvement.


Haulage Oversight:
  • Manage the haulage fleet to ensure timely and efficient material transport.
  • Optimize haulage routes and schedules for maximum productivity.
  • Construct, maintain , audit, and improve haulage network.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and improve fleet performance.


Drill and Blast Operations:
  • Direct and coordinate drill and blast activities in alignment with production goals.
  • Implement and monitor blasting practices that optimize fragmentation and minimize highwall impact.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards during drilling and blasting operations.


Training Department Oversight:
  • Develop and implement training programs for new and existing employees.
  • Gauge experienced staff skills and recommends continual improvement training.
  • Ensure that training programs align with industry best practices and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify and address specific training needs.


Safety and Environmental Compliance:
  • Prioritize and enforce safety protocols across all operational areas.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and implement sustainable practices.
  • Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions.


Budget Management:
  • Manage Mine production and operational budgets for production, haulage, drill and blast, leadership, and training.
  • Analyze and report on monthly and annual operational budget variance.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or production standards.
  • Responsible for executing, supporting, and enforcing the Company's Environmental, Health and Safety program as required by OIS policy, directives, and principles .


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Proven experience as an Open Pit Operations Mine Manager with expertise in production, haulage, drill and blast, leadership, and training.
  • In-depth knowledge of open pit mining processes, equipment, and best practices.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with a track record of building high-performance teams.
  • Ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and drive operational improvements.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental compliance, and sustainable mining practices.
  • Experience in developing and implementing training programs.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in budget management and cost control.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or a related field, or relevant work experience; and relevant supervisory responsibility .
  • English language fluency.
  • At least CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) B2 - Upper Intermediate: Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in their field of specialization.
