Job description

Position Summary: : Primary duty is to support the Councils year-round girl and volunteer recruitment efforts. Hosts recruitment events, determines prime locations, and makes initial contacts with schools and potential partners for recruiting events and programs, and helps support new volunteers in navigating the startup process. Must be proficient in providing support to diverse communities, including engagement of community members with a preference of Spanish language and communication as well as diverse, faith-based organizations. Works with recruitment team to meet annual membership goals. The position will serve recruitment in the entire jurisdiction of our council. Travel throughout the state will be required, most likely a few days each month. Nights and weekends are required.

FLSA Status: Regular, full-time, exempt.

Reports to: Recruitment Manager

Essential Functions:

  • Develops and delivers Council-wide girl and volunteer recruitment events.
  • Collaborates with the Membership Recruitment team to further the goals and objectives of the Girl-ScoutsArizona Cactus-Pine Council, Inc.
  • Serves as team lead for faith-based organizations and religious institutions.
  • Projects specific targets for membership growth by analyzing data on demographics, membership trends, and minority populations.
  • Recruits a strong volunteer corps, with a focus on Troop Leadership, to serve girls in the community.
  • Fosters a commitment to a team approach to work.
  • Builds support within the community by promoting the visibility for the Girl Scout organization.
  • Serves as a bridge in helping transition alternative delivery programs (GS Impact, Etc.) to volunteer led troops.
  • Manage and work within an assigned budget.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Exceptional analytical, writing and verbal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, focus and achieve results, including strong ability to source and analyze data.
  • Ability to rapidly learn, organize and synthesize information.
  • Ability to work and lead effectively in a matrix organization across a range of internal and external colleagues and partners.
  • Ability to lead through influence, as opposed to relying only on formal authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in racially, ethnically, and geographically, diverse communities.
  • Knowledge of working within an organization that advances the core values of diversity, equity and inclusion, for all populations.
  • Technical ability, skills, and experience with computer input and software. Experience with windows platforms preferred.
  • Bachelors degree or equivalent related work/volunteer experience.

Physical Abilities

  • Valid drivers license, insurance, and access to reliable transportation for daily travel.
  • Access to internet or work directly from council office.
  • Must be able to sit at a computer terminal for up to three hours at a time.
  • Able to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must have the physical ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds without difficulty
  • Must have the physical ability to work outdoors in AZ heat.

Desired Knowledge Skills and Abilities

    • Willingness to fully participate in staff development opportunities (when offered) and to take responsibility for self-directed learning.
    • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, the Girl Scout program.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) with ability to speak, read and write in both languages is a plus.
