Job Description:

The Commercial Aviation team is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be an electrical engineer and have a strong background in PCB design using Altium Designer, as well as working knowledge of Mentor Graphics Expedition and PADS. This role is critical in supporting the development of electronic products for aviation applications, ensuring that all designs meet the stringent standards required for aerospace technology.

Essential Functions:

  • Design complex printed circuit boards for aviation electronics, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Define board stack-ups based on design requirements.
  • Create assembly drawings, Gerbers, and package of design materials needed for fabrication and assembly.
  • Utilize Altium Designer for schematic capture and layout, while also leveraging Mentor Graphics Expedition and PADS for specific design tasks.
  • Maintain component libraries in Altium and participate in verification and approval of parts/symbols added to the libraries.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, manufacturing, and systems engineers, to ensure design integrity and manufacturability.
  • Conduct design reviews and participate in peer reviews to validate designs and improve quality.
  • Consolidation and maintenance of legacy PCB and PWB work product, including conversion to Altium
  • Manage and verify work from outsourced PCB design efforts
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Stay abreast of the latest PCB technologies and industry best practices to drive continuous improvement in design processes.
  • Support the transition from design to production, including troubleshooting and resolving any design-related issues.
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines to produce cost effective products
  • Good teamwork and people skills. Ability to closely with and support other engineers, technical staff, operations and vendors.
  • Responsible for performing job duties consistent with L3Harris Ethics, Financial, Health and Safety Standards.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • 5+ years with Altium Designer is required.
  • Working knowledge of Mentor Graphics Expedition and PADS.
  • Experience with designing for high-speed, RF and EMI considerations.
  • Strong understanding of PCB design principles, fabrication processes, and assembly techniques.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for test (DFT) principles.
  • Familiarity with aviation industry standards and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be a US Person which requires US Citizenship or a Green Card holder
