The Systems Design and Architecture (SDA) organization is searching for a Principal Systems Design Engineer to join the Effectors Systems Design & Architecture (SDA) organization located in Tucson, AZ. Our Systems Design and Architecture (SDA) organization is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multi-disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers.
As the Principal Systems Design Engineer you will work the Systems V Engineering life cycle while interfacing with a variety of engineering disciplines, subject matter experts, chief engineers, chief technologists, the customer and so much more to ensure we design, integrate, and build our systems to work the first time and every time for our warfighters!
In this role you will also collaborate with other Engineering disciplines to help define requirements, interfaces, subsystem behavior, and how the subsystem will integrate into the overall system and architecture. Depending on your level of experience, you will also have the opportunity to guide and mentor other team members. Through Digital Transformation you will perform these functions using a variety of methods and enabling technologies, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Agile product development.
What You Will Do:
- Y ou will be responsible for obtaining in-depth technical knowledge of the Effectors subsystem that is assigned to you
- You will perform requirements flow down and allocation to subsystems as well as develop the requirements traceability verification matrix
- You will be responsible for establishing the approach and implementing the subsystem design and architecture while following established standards and procedures. Design work may require using Model Based System Engineering methods and tools.
- Ownership of interface requirements for a given system or subsystem
- You will apply your knowledge of the subsystem and collaborate with other Engineering disciplines to develop and maintain the subsystem requirements
- You will interact with Technical SMEs as necessary to fully understand the subsystem including identifying and resolving issues and supporting related subsystem trades or analysis
- Depending on level of experience, you will provide mentoring and guidance to other team members
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8+ years of engineering experience
- The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Experience in one or more of the following: requirements definition, decomposition, specification writing, and/or maintenance with cross-disciplined Engineering teams
- Experience with internal and external interface design of digital, electrical, and/or mechanical subsystems
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with implementing architecture and designs with Model Based Systems Engineering tools
- Experience in missile systems design, integration, test, or flight demonstration
- Experience with DOORS
- Experience with SysML, DoDAF, WOSA, MOSA, or GRA
- Experience using Cameo Systems Modeler
- Experience managing or guiding teams working architecture and design
- Experience using Agile framework development methods and processes
- Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret or above level Security Clearance
