Position Title: Firefighter

The Town of Wickenburg Fire Department is seeking dedicated and qualified candidates for the position of Firefighter. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team committed to public safety and community service.

Salary: $18.68 - $26.15 per hour, depending on qualifications (DOQ) and experience (DOE).

Application Requirements:

Complete the department application available on the Town of Wickenburg's job portal.
Submit a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) dated within one year prior to the interview date (by September 30, 2024).
Submit a resume and proof of certifications, licenses, and qualifications, including CPAT.
Attest to completing the testing requirements administered by National Testing Network (NTN).

Department Overview:
Established in 1865, the Wickenburg Fire Department transitioned from a volunteer service to a full-time career Fire/EMS agency in 2006. The department operates two Advanced Life Support (ALS) engine companies per shift with a 48 on/96 off rotation and has recently expanded by opening a second station, Station 755. The department serves both the Town of Wickenburg and the surrounding rural area through a District Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA).

Area Information:

Location: Wickenburg, Maricopa, and Yavapai Counties
Population: Approximately 8,112 in town and an additional 4,000 in the rural area
Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED
Successful completion of a recognized regional fire training academy or an equivalent as determined by the Fire Chief
Must be at least 18 years of age
Required Certifications/Licenses:

Arizona State or IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter I & II Certification meeting NFPA 1001 standards
Arizona State EMT or Paramedic Certification
HazMat/First Responder Operations qualification
Valid Driver's License
Required to Obtain Within a Specified Period:

Successful completion of Basic Wildland Firefighter training as outlined in NWCG 310-1
Successful completion of the Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) from a licensed agency, dated within one year prior to the interview date (by September 30, 2024)
Hiring Process:
Candidates will undergo testing through the National Testing Network (NTN) and must complete the application through the Town of Wickenburg Job Posting Page. Successful candidates will be invited to a "Meet the Team" session and oral interview. Following a conditional offer of employment, candidates will undergo background checks and a physical examination.

Job Activities:
Firefighters perform in high-pressure emergency situations and are exposed to hazards such as fire, smoke, chemicals, and extreme conditions. The role requires physical strength to lift, carry, and maneuver objects and people weighing up to 185 pounds.
