Job description
Position Title: Non-Contracted/Hourly Custodian Substitute
Department: Custodial
Reports To: Custodial Supervisor
SUMMARY: On call custodial substitute who can perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain buildings, locker rooms, and adjacent ground areas in a clean, orderly, and secure condition. AS NEEDED: Monday through Friday. Shifts are 2:30PM - 10:30PM
Must pass a criminal background check and Department of Human Services Child Maltreatment Registry check. Substitute is responsible for any/all fees associated with these items. Total cost is approximately $40 and requires online payment with a debit or credit card. There is assistance with this process available if needed. Fingerprints are done electronically in Farmington, AR so substitute must be willing to drive to the fingerprinting site upon request. Central Office will assist in this process if needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Other department related duties may be assigned.
- Performs routine custodial activities at assigned District school site; sweeps, scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors and vacuums rugs and carpets in classrooms, offices, workshops, and other assigned work areas; spot cleans and shampoos carpets.
- Cleans classrooms, restrooms, locker rooms, shops, cafeteria, offices and related facilities as assigned; sweeps, mops and cleans gymnasium floor as assigned; spot mops spills and removes gum and debris; cleans tables, chairs and floors after lunch periods as assigned.
- Cleans and disinfects drinking fountains, sinks, toilets, showers, and urinals; cleans mirrors, tile, and windows.
- Reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards to appropriate authority; reports and recommends the need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority; maintains security of buildings; reports suspicious or unauthorized individuals on campus; reports infractions of rules to supervisor.
- Washes windows and walls; cleans chalkboards/dry erase boards, trays, and erasers and empties pencil sharpeners; assembles, moves and arranges furniture, supplies, and equipment in preparing classroom and multi-purpose rooms for special events or meetings.
- Cleans blinds, dusts and polishes furniture and woodwork and makes minor, non-technical repairs as needed.
- Locks and unlocks doors and gates as appropriate; maintains security of assigned areas according to established guidelines; turns alarm system off in the morning and on in the evening as directed.
- Picks up and rakes paper, trash, and debris around school grounds and in buildings; sweeps and cleans walkways and entrances; disposes of trash according to established procedures; washes out trash cans and follows established sanitation procedures and standards.
- Packs, unpacks, loads, receives and stores books, supplies, materials, and other items.
- Ability to push, carry, and lift large and heavy objects (up to 50#)
- Operates cleaning equipment, such as vacuum, floor stripper, cleaner, buffer and polisher, carpet shampooer, scrubber, high-pressure sprayer, manual and power sweepers, and power blowers as assigned.
- Shovels, plows, and sands walks and steps as directed.
- Responds to emergency cleanups such as spills; maintains records of observed maintenance, repair needs, and safety issues.
- Participates in major summer cleaning projects as assigned.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrates regular attendance and punctuality.
- Performs other duties consistent with the position assigned as may be requested by the administration.
