Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled X-ray Technician to join our medical team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging examinations using radiographs/computerized tomography and other modalities to assist in the detection of various medical conditions, diagnosis and treatments.
Job relationships:
-The Radiology Technologist is responsible to the Radiologist, Administrator, and the Chief Operations Officer.
-The Radiology Technologist Supervises the Radiology Assistant.
-The Radiology Technologist works closely with the Radiologist, Emergency Room personnel, Nursing staff, Radiology Assistant, Patients, and other departments to achieve the highest possible medical care deliverable for the resources available.
Responsibilities and Duties:
The Radiology Technologist is responsible for care and safety of patients undergoing a radiological procedure. He/She is responsible for care and operation of the radiographic equipment, using safe radiation dosages within the principles of ALARA, the transfer of quality radiographs from the computed radiology readers Digital radiography T-Rad room and Toshiba Computerized Tomography(CT)Scanner to the Proton Pacs ,subsequent DICOM send if needed and keeping a record of the patient/exam/room #/Physician in the Radiology log book.
o The following duties are also included in this position:
-The ability to log on to the Computerized Order Entry System to check orders, proper diagnosis matching the procedure ordered, and the ability to charge for the radiological procedure preformed.
-The ability to log on to the Computed Radiography readers for radiographs and properly enters the patients medical record number, accession #,the patients information i.e. name, date of birth, sex, physician, test/time ordered, technologist initials performing procedure, and select views to be taken.
-The ability to enter patient information into the Computerized Tomography Scanner (CT), check the order and diagnosis for proper medical necessity, chose proper protocol for body part in need of imaging, to perform the CT scan to the highest achievable level of diagnostic quality, transfer the completed study (along with any reconstructions if protocol requires) to the PACS system, and DICOM send the study if preliminary report is required.
-Enter each patient into the Radiology Daily Log Record.
-Retrieve and return patients to and from the Radiology Department.
-Work assigned shift and take call on scheduled basis.
-Sets up and operates stationary, mobile, and CT devices.
-Maintains equipment in efficient operating condition: cleans apparatus of all soiled material and dirt.
-Burns a CD on patients who requests or are being transferred to another facility according with the release of medical information policy.
-Participates in Disaster, Fire, Safety Drills, and other mandatory programs and procedures in the hospital.
-Perform Tube warm up, Fast cals, (QA) and restart every morning on the CT scanner.
-Keep continuing education and licenses in profession current.
-Perform other related duties in department assigned by the Radiology Managers.
-DICOM send images to Trauma Repository
-Review and follow all Infection Control Policies and Procedures
- Perform X-ray imaging procedures following prescribed protocols
- Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Collaborate with radiologists and healthcare providers to interpret imaging results
- Adhere to radiation safety standards and protocols
- Operate and maintain imaging equipment
Experience:
-Education: The Radiology Technologist must graduate from an accredited school of Radiological Technology.
-The American Registry of Radiologic Technologist and Arkansas Department of Health Radiologic Technologist License. Each Technologist must have these Licenses to perform duties as a Radiology Technologist.
-Job Knowledge: The Radiology Technologist must have a good working knowledge of anatomy, understanding the principle of physics, electricity, radiation safety, and methods of exposure to obtain clearly defined films; and be able to operate, PACS, portable x-ray, Digital T-Rad room and CT scanner. He/she must also have knowledge of patient care, sterile techniques, and the ability to deal with all types and conditions of patients.
