Assistant Nurse Manager Med/Surg

Shift: Night or Variable shifts

Hours per Week: 30 or 36 hours

Job Summary: The Assistant Nurse Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Med/Surg unit during night shifts. This role involves overseeing clinical operations, ensuring quality care, and compliance with regulatory standards. The position includes supervising staff, managing budgets, and driving quality improvement initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily clinical operations, including practice standards, staffing, payroll, and budget management.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as departmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement action plans to enhance staff development and unit performance.
  • Monitor and allocate personnel based on patient needs, ensuring optimal care and efficient use of resources.
  • Manage human resources, safety programs, and risk management within the unit.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers across units to ensure coordinated and effective patient care.
  • Address and resolve patient and family concerns regarding care delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an inpatient acute care Med/Surg hospital unit.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role such as Lead, Charge Nurse, or Assistant Manager/Supervisor.
  • Current California RN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS certification strongly preferred.
  • BSN degree or higher required.
  • Experience in a union hospital environment preferred.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary: $180,000 - $186,000
