Job description
Summary:
This is permanent contracting rate and you will get paid hourly basis and entitled for healthcare benefits also.
Emergency Power Technicians travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems. Technician shall complete automatic transfer switch servicing and troubleshooting along with Low, Medium switchgear and circuit breaker testing. Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner. Perform all duties in accordance with the company's policies and procedures, all US state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the company operates.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Oversee implementation of procedures and tasks provided by the Director and project manager.
Must be able to drive daily locally/regionally and be available for periodic overnight travel.
Complete assigned tasks in a safe and workmanlike manner.
Oversee apprentice training and labor, to assure safety and quality.
Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals when applicable.
Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other senior management.
Be on the On-Call schedule on a rotating basis.
Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel when applicable.
Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team when applicable.
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools when applicable.
Track project milestones and deliverables when applicable.
Must be available for in and out of state training courses.
Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, and requirement documentation.
Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
Regular attendance and timeliness.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Familiar with the Electrical industry standards and codes
Prior experience in the installation and maintenance of Electrical equipment and supporting structures.
Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
Can conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Must have good PC skills including email, internet, data entry and Microsoft Excel; experience with various electrical system programs a plus.
Must have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record.
Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights.
Must be able to work safely and adhere to all electrical safety procedures.
Prefer OSHA 30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70-E, CPR/First Aid/BBP/AED training.
Be able to react to project adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.
Active Journeyman Electrician Certification Card from the state of California.
3 years commercial Journeyman experience within the industry.
2 years in a supervisory role.
High school diploma or equivalent experience required.
Prefer an associate degree from an accredited 2 year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or a EE Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee).
Manufacture ATS, PLC, UPS, and other equipment certifications a plus.
NETA Certification (II, III or IV) or similar preferred.
