The Solid State Phased Array Radar System (SSPARS) Environmental (ENV) Manager will be responsible for maintaining and improving the environmental program for the Space Force. The ENV Manager provides technical guidance on environmental regulations dealing with topics including but not limited to air quality, drinking water quality, hazardous materials, hazardous wastes, natural resources and cultural resources. The ENV Manager must be able to handle various roles working with multiple departments while remaining focused on environmental compliance. The ENV Manager will report directly to the Civil Engineer Lead. Responsibilities Major Job Activities: Manages compliance and database information for all environmental programs including but not limited to drinking water, air emissions, natural resources, backflow prevention, cultural resources, hazardous materials, above-ground storage tanks, waste disposal, asbestos, lead-based paint, solid waste, pesticides and recycling. Acts as the technical resource for all military, federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Prepares environmental reports, environmental assessments, and reviews all environmental data. Responsible for all environmental permitting, project planning, implementation, and administration. Assists the CE Manager in providing excellent customer service in support of military installation activities. Provides high-level expertise for completion of external and internal environmental audits. Oversees environmental training program for all site personnel. Organizes deliverables, environmental records and files as per contract requirements. Reviews Statement of Work for projects and ensures work scheduled and completed with subcontractors. Adheres to the Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements between V2X and U.S. Space Force. Oversees other base operations and ensures ENV office excels in areas such as general housekeeping, safety and environmental practices, parts requisition and calibration, security compliance, and exercise participation. Material & Equipment Directly Used: US Space Force (USSF) computer systems, Office 365 applications, air quality monitors, water quality sensors, soil sampling kits, hazardous material detection devices, and environmental compliance software. Working Environment: Primarily in an office setting. OCONUS Locations: May be exposed to extreme cold when working outdoors and extended periods of darkness due to geographic location. (Clear SFS, AK and Pituffik SB, Greenland) Physical Activities: Walking and standing during environmental inspections and site visits. Bending, crouching, climbing ladders and stairs, and reaching to collect samples or inspect equipment. Lifting and carrying environmental monitoring equipment weighing up to 40 pounds. Sitting for extended periods to review and document findings. Qualifications Education / Certifications: Bachelor of Science Degree in an environmental science, engineering, biology, chemistry or equivalent. Must be a U.S. citizen and possess a DoD Secret security clearance or be eligible to obtain and maintain one. Required Experience: Experience working with military and/or federal, state, or local government customer base. Preferred knowledge with NEPA process, air quality, drinking water treatment and analysis, storage tank compliance, refrigerant management, hazardous waste management with toxic substances such as asbestos, lead-based paint and PCBs. Skills & Technology Used: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products. Excellent communication skills both written and verbally with a wide range of personnel, including internal program staff, information technology staff, subcontractors and regulatory personnel. Air quality monitors, water quality sensors and others as required to monitor the environment. Supervisory / Budget Responsibilities: May supervise subordinate workers performing base operations, activities, and services.
