MEDIATION AND CONDUCT COMMITTEE LIAISON

BERKELEY STUDENT COOPERATIVE

About the BSC: The Berkeley Student Cooperative provides affordable housing to over 1200 UC Berkeley students across 17 houses and 3 apartment complexes. Our mission is to provide a quality, cooperative living experience that supports the academic success of our diverse members.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Mediation and Conduct Committee Liaison (MCCL) upholds the BSC Conduct Code by supporting the student-led Conduct Committee, facilitating conflict resolution, and managing conduct cases. The MCCL reports to the Cooperative Experience Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUITES:

  • Advise the Conduct Committee and unit councils on conduct policies and procedures
  • Manage Tier 3 conduct cases, PNG hearings (for non-members), and membership termination processes
  • Conduct investigations, maintain case records, and implement conduct sanctions
  • Collaborate with the Cooperative Experience team to provide mediation and restorative justice options
  • Train unit-level managers on conflict resolution; maintain member-facing conduct workshops
  • Ensure conduct program compliance through continuing education and policy work

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree + 2 years conducting investigations in an educational/workplace setting
  • 2 years conflict resolution experience; student conduct administration experience preferred
  • Knowledge of laws and student conduct best practices; strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional communication and organizational abilities; high degree of tact and integrity
  • Demonstrated cultural competence and experience supporting diverse student needs

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's in Higher Education, Student Affairs, or related field
  • Experience with restorative justice practices and crisis management
  • Familiarity with Title IX, Clery Act, and student privacy regulations

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time hourly (non-exempt) position, with compensation based on prior experience and skill level. The minimum starting wage is $31.36/hr to $32.93/hr. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents, paid holidays, vacation & sick leave, long-term disability & life insurance, 403b plan, annual cost-of-living increases, and annual performance-based raises and/or bonuses.

This position is unionized as part of the BSC Employee Association.
