Job Description

As a Scientist I in Drug Delivery Sciences, you will work under the mentorship of a supervisor to develop novel drug delivery systems for the sustained delivery of large molecules. You will collaborate with a talented, multidisciplinary, and cross-functional team to build cutting-edge new delivery capabilities and advance product candidates through early R&D. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic and inquisitive, with good communication and collaboration skills and an understanding of scientific principles.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and perform lab work to support the development of novel drug delivery systems for large molecules.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance formulation properties through ex vivo & in vivo studies.
  • Contribute to analytical studies setup (HPLC, SEC, CEX, IEC, MALS, ELISA, etc) and mechanical studies (rheology, dynamic mechanical testing, etc) by undertaking their respective trainings and implementing them to develop methods for evaluation of formulations.
  • Execute formulation and associated analytical experiments.
  • Apply in-depth understanding of relevant scientific principles to understand assignments.
  • Learn and effectively implement new experimental protocols and/or techniques.
  • Generate high-quality data and prepare technical reports/presentations.
  • Participate and contribute to team meetings.
  • Support a safe, organized, and operational laboratory environment, including coordination of equipment calibration/maintenance, procurement of supplies, etc.
  • Maintain timely and accurate inventory system and laboratory records consistent with good documentation practices.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • A bachelors or masters degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, bioengineering, pharmaceutical sciences, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of related experience with bachelors degree or 2+ years of related experience with masters degreerequired.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Laboratory experimental skills and knowledge of techniques and instrumentation employed in pharmaceutical formulation or biologics/proteins analysis.
  • Preferred hands-on experience with formulation development, protein characterizations, and instrumentations/techniques such as HPLC, SEC, CEX, IEC, MALS, ELISA, rheometer and spray drying.
  • Good interpersonal and team skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to details, good organizational and planning skills.
  • A desire and capacity to learn, drive continuous improvement, and operate in a highly dynamic and fast-paced environment.
