Raytheon is seeking a Mechanical Engineer I to help lead new product development within the Electronic Warfare (EW) Mechanical Engineering Subsystems Design section within the Mechanical Optical Performance Analysis and Electronic Warfare (MOPA&EW) Department. The section specializes in the design, integration, verification, and production of digital processor and RF receiver subsystems for airborne platforms. The candidate participates in the mechanical development supporting a variety of programs in Goleta, California. Key interfaces will be with other sections across the Department, other Engineering disciplines, as well as internal customers leading the supporting programs. What You Will Do The Mechanical Engineer I will perform conceptual and detailed mechanical design of Antennas, RF products/sub-systems, High Density Electronic packaging designs and Electronic components/devices for application in ground, sea, and airborne defense.
Responsibilities include the design of structures, mechanisms, thermal systems, and electronic enclosures. Candidate will be expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program/functional supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met with the design.
Contacts are primarily with the immediate section manager, team lead, project leaders, and other personnel (peers) within the applicable program.
This role will require Special Access Program (SAP) admission and potentially submittals into other program areas as well. Travel requirements will be tailored to program specific needs (test events, fit-checks, gate presentations, etc.).
Qualifications You Must Have Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
This position requires 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Experience in mechanical engineering design and product support through educational coursework or prior intern experience.
Experience with 3-D modeling and analysis using Creo or other tools. Qualifications We Prefer Experience with M/S Office tools i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field and general knowledge of other related disciplines.
Knowledgeable in reading mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings.
Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) analysis for drawings.
Direct experience in developing detail mechanical designs and documentation packages for RF, Electronic and/or mechanical systems. Ability to draft communications, create, and deliver presentations. Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. The salary range for this role is 59,000 USD - 113,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
