This position will begin full time on-site. After assessing work productivity throughout the six-month probationary period along with satisfactory progress and supervisor approval, the incumbent may request a hybrid/remote schedule that fits within the department's business needs.

Responsibilities:
The Academic Personnel Analyst in the Department of Mathematics in the School of Physical Sciences provides the primary analytical and administrative foundation in all matters related to senate and non-senate personnel for the department. Under general supervision of the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), incumbent is independently responsible for coordinating, managing, and providing analytical and administrative support for all facets of senate and non-senate Academic Personnel, including: recruitment, merits, promotions, visiting employment procedures, leaves of absence, and international relations. Applies professional UC Academic HR concepts, organization and system wide policies, and procedures to provide guidance to supervisors and managers to resolve a variety of academic human resources issues of moderate scope and complexity. This position advises the Department Chair and CAO in administrative matters including confidential departmental matters and provides administrative analysis related to academic personnel management. Has independent responsibility relating to non-citizen immigration procedures and applications for temporary visas, H-1b, and permanent residency applications. Interprets policy and develops/implements procedures to ensure compliance and support effective and efficient personnel operations. Serves as primary department contact and collaborates with experts on UCPath transactions and is responsible for compliance with efficient business practices around supporting documents, entries, tracking, and transactions. Effectively works with the Physical Sciences Dean's Office, Academic Personnel, International Center, and Human Resources for resolution of a variety of complex personnel issues. Maintains statistical data and files, and personnel records.

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $30.56- $42.00 (Hourly).

Required:

Analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations to Chairs / unit management.

Demonstrated organization, problem solving, and communication skills.

Ability to handle all personnel matters with discretion and confidentiality.

Experience in setting priorities and following through on assignments in order to meet deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to analyze information, problems, complex policies and procedures to define the problem or objective, identify relevant concerns or factors; formulate logical and objective conclusions and recognize alternatives and their applications.

Demonstrated written skill to compose accurate memos, letters and other correspondence.

Ability to work independently with minimal direction.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with various levels of staff, faculty, students and the public and private industry and skill in handling issues both professionally and diplomatically with a diverse range of cultural, social, economic and educational backgrounds.

Ability and willingness to maintain a positive attitude and contribute as an individual and as a team member to achieve the goals and mission of the Department.

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

1-3 years Experience in personnel analysis or administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

Basic knowledge of and ability to apply / interpret organization and college policies and procedures which govern academic HR.

Knowledge of organization, college and departmental formal and informal policies and procedures and understanding of variances to stated policies.

Knowledge of human resources management systems and other related business software programs and systems.

Knowledge of unit academic culture and educational goals of discipline(s) served.
