Job description

Management of projects involving the productions of structural engineering constructions documents including correspondence with clients and other design from members and responsibility for project budgets and schedules. Assist Project leader with client and project coordination and management. Assist PE with the design of structural elements necessary to support buildings, including joists, beams, columns, walls, foundations, and lateral-force-resisting systems utilizing civil and structural engineering methodologies, calculations, complex specialized structural analysis and design software such as RISA, RAM, RatainPro, AutoCAD, Revit, etc. Identify the structural components for bearing and lateral systems respectively and analyze trusses, beams, frames response to loadings using direct stiffness method and energy method, which forms the basis of understanding for the deflection calculation performed using spreadsheets or software. Communicate with the clients to understand their needs and modify the structural calculation and drawing if required. Assist PE with the design of non-structural elements as per International building code. Provide technical engineering responses to questions from the contractor, project manager, and resolve engineering or construction issues as they arise. Assist in the production of preliminary pricing plans and construction documents. Assist in project close-out efforts including punch lists. Prepare construction documents and response to Request for Information (RFIs). Under guidance of a Licensed Engineer, calculate lateral loads per American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7 to perform lateral analysis Assist with the design of building structures for the residential and commercial projects and perform routine gravity and lateral analysis and work under engineer. As needed, visit project sites to take measurements and conduct preliminary surveys before the design phase and during construction to ensure the structure is being constructed per structural drawings or to solve questions of the contractor. Assist PE with the design of steel structures using load and resistance factor design method as per American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Manual. Assist PE with the design of fence walls, pilasters, and retaining walls for specified projects. Prepare documentation for schematic design, design development and construction documents. Respond to bid inquiries regarding pre-bid approvals; prepare addenda. REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree in Civil Engineering, or a related Engineering field plus 12 months of experience in the job offered and twelve (12) months of experience in designing software such as RISA, RAM, RetainPro, AutoCad.
