Project engineer to help with plan, design, and building for a variety of construction projects.

Client Details

My client has been a general contractor in the construction industry for 30+ years specialzing in commercial tenant improvements, life science and healthcare projects.

As a Senior Project Engineer for a leading commercial tenant improvement general contractor specializing in life science and healthcare projects, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of complex construction projects. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, coordinating project activities, and supporting the project management team in delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. Your contributions will contribute to the company's reputation as a trusted partner in the life science and healthcare sectors.

Description

Responsibilities:
1. Project Support and Coordination:
- Assist the project management team in planning, coordinating, and executing tenant improvement projects in the life science and healthcare sectors.
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents to ensure compliance and identify potential issues or risks.
- Collaborate with the project manager to develop detailed project schedules, track progress, and manage project milestones.

2. Technical Expertise:
- Provide technical support and expertise in the areas of life science and healthcare construction, including understanding complex systems and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the successful implementation of project designs.
- Review and evaluate project drawings, shop drawings, and other technical documentation for accuracy and constructability.

3. Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs (Requests for Information), change orders, submittals, and project correspondence.
- Generate regular progress reports, cost tracking reports, and other project-related documentation as required.
- Support the project team in maintaining accurate and up-to-date project records, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.

4. Quality Assurance and Control:
- Assist in implementing quality control processes to ensure that workmanship and materials meet or exceed project specifications and industry standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address any quality or safety issues promptly.
- Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement corrective actions to resolve quality-related concerns.

5. Team Collaboration and Leadership:
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting effective communication and teamwork among project team members.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior project engineers, supporting their professional development.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and ensure project success.

Profile

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in commercial construction project engineering, specifically in tenant improvement projects in the life science and healthcare sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and systems relevant to life science and healthcare projects.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards applicable to life science and healthcare construction.
- Strong technical aptitude and proficiency in project management software and other relevant tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- A team player with a proactive and results-oriented mindset.
- Relevant certifications or licenses (e.g., LEED, PMP) are a plus.
