Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties You will make difficult load routing judgments by considering such factors as size, shape, and location of the object You will maintain awareness of work operations for possible safety hazards and take steps to eliminate or control hazards. You will use equipment such as chain falls, gin poles, tackle blocks, gallows frames, or combinations of these to rig and move objects through confined areas. You will direct operators of cranes and other weight handling equipment by standard signals. You will make and install complex rigging used to support or secure equipment. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. You will be required to qualify as Ammunition and Hazardous Material Handler (AMHAZ). May be required to work scheduled and/or unscheduled overtime on week days, weekends and/or holidays A valid Class A commercial driver's license is required. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to use measuring instruments appropriate to the line of work such as: Simple measuring instruments including rules, scales, squares gages, testers, pressure indicators, tachometers, test lights, ammeters, meggers, watt meters, testers. More Complex measuring instruments including micrometers, dial indicators, optical comparators, protractors, combination squares, dynamic balancers, dividers, templates, precision blocks, millivoltmeters with shunts; frequency meters; bridges; and oscilloscopes. When a job involves only the simpler measuring instruments, it usually includes one or more of the following practices: Accuracy in checking, counting, verifying, and sorting. Keeping records, logs, inventories, etc.; making reports. Ability to use arithmetic: add, subtract, multiply, divide, etc. Knowledge of storage, treatment, and care. Knowledge of handling. Ability to meet a time schedule, deadline, or emergency when using the instrument. Several vacancies may be filled. Recruitment incentives may be authorized to eligible new hires. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Frequently lifts and carries objects weighing up to 40 lbs. Mechanical lifting devices/other employees are available to assist with lifts of more than 40 lbs. Lifts items such as cables, chains, and dollies. Continually reaches, bends, stoops, pushes, and pulls. Must walk and stand for prolonged periods of time. Frequently climbs on platforms, machines, and other structures to signal crane operator. Works in cramped and awkward positions while installing rigging in confined areas. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is indoors or outdoors subjecting the employee to all types of weather. Is subject to possible cuts and burns while handling wire and fiber ropes; cuts, bruises, and broken bones from falls while climbing and attaching rigging to the load; potential serious injury from swinging loads, breaking slings and falling objects. Various protective devices such as hard hats, safety shoes, and gloves are used to minimize these conditions. Possibility of falling from heights.
