Summary You will serve as a SECURITY GUARD in the FORCE PROTECTION (N34) of NAS LEMOORE SEC DET. Duties You will serve as the senior member of the entry control/vehicle inspection team which conducts private and commercial vehicle inspections. You will control access and departures of vehicles and pedestrians in controlled areas to prevent unauthorized access. You will direct vehicles and pedestrian traffic during periods of emergency or increased traffic. You will furnish technical direction to an entry control team to properly perform vehicle inspections. You will inspect private and commercial vehicles to determine if safe to enter installation. You will assist personnel during an emergency situation (e.g., accidents, drills, fire, natural disasters, motor vehicle or industrial accidents, political demonstrations, hostage or terrorist situations) to protect the safety of life and property. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement. You must submit DD Form 2760, Qualification to Possess Firearms before appointment. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license. Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing. This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition. Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. This is a bargaining unit position. You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal. You must meet the qualifications and be certified to carry a firearm. I have six months of general experience performing administrative, technical, clerical, military, or other work that involved following written procedures, rules, or regulations in contacts with coworkers, supervisors, or members of the public to provide a service, respond to inquiries, or obtain information, AND I have six months of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-03) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector that involved the protection of property against such hazards as fire, theft, damage, accident, or trespass; or maintaining order and protecting life. Such experience must have provided knowledge of protective systems and techniques. GS-05

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will be required to complete the Regional Training Academy. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Required to receive training on the use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray (pepper spray) in a controlled training environment, to include the experience of receiving the spray to the facial area. Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards in accordance with Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) directives.
