Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, development planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape the future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including US Space Force, U.S Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. DSG also assists the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems. As part of the Space Enterprise and Warfighting Division, the Space Warfighting Directorate provides high-quality analytical support to the US Space Forces - Space (S4S), Combined Space Operations Center (CSpOC), National Space Defense Center (NSDC), and US Space Command's Missile Warning Center (MWC), Joint Overhead Persistent- Infrared Center (JOPC), and Joint Navigation Warfare Center's (JNWC) Joint operations centers, advising the Government on the design, performance, operational employment and resilience of current and future space forces to integrate into the joint fight and win the next war. We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Systems Engineering and Integration Senior Project Lead to support the US Space Forces - Space (S4S) and US Space Command's operational level operations centers. The successful candidate will be able to provide experience-based technical expertise and trusted counsel to S4S senior leadership on all aspects of space capabilities and theater space operations to support Combatant Command and Service Component strategic and operational planning leading to warfighting impact. Work Model: This position requires 100% on site work at Vandenberg Space Force Base, CA, with occasional travel. What You'll Be Doing Providing trusted technical counsel and serve as the principal technical representative to S4S senior leadership on all aspects of operational level Space Operations on integrated, multi-domain, system of system capabilities from USSF and other space mission partners portfolios. Lead cross functional teams and coordinate with US Space Command's Components and operations centers to develop capability integration and support their ability to operationalize new capabilities
Review requirements, models, and algorithms to develop integration architecture and recommend technical needs for US Space component operational processes
Solving the customers hardest problems in the development, fielding, planning, integration, and operational employment of new space capabilities
Provide the customer with technical assessments of system design, process integrity, and schedule confidence for missions with rapid acquisition timelines
Develop and integrate multi-sensor optimization solutions to support synchronized operational level Joint warfighting
Support development of Joint command and control concept of operations in the space domain
Lead mixed government, SE&I, and FFRDC teams in architecture, strategy, and systems engineering projects and tasks
Deliver high quality technical products in a timely manner
Exemplify Aerospace corporate values of objectivity and integrity when serving as a trusted agent to our government customers What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Leader, Systems and Mission Assurance Engineering Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or other relevant discipline Twelve or more years of increasingly responsible relevant professional engineering experience supporting National Security Space (NSS) missions
Experience in developing requirements, models, and algorithms for complex architectures for operational processes
An operational background in electronic warfare, orbital warfare, space domain awareness, or cyber mission areas Ability to translate system/acquisition/implementation risk into warfighting mission risk (and vice versa). For example, the "So What" of OPSCAP/SYSCAP, and MVC vs. full delivery of needed capabilities.
Familiarity with space tactical mission operations and operational-level command and control in a joint warfighting environment
Experience with commercial and Allied coalition capability integration with US Space Operations
Proven ability to establish and maintain trusted relationships with government customers and key stakeholders under minimal supervision
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for interactions at all levels of corporate and government leadership
Self-motivated: ability to work independently, prioritize competing requirements to meet goals, and manage resource allocations to complete projects.
This position requires a current and active TS/SCI security clearance and additional special accesses, which are issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance
Ability to travel domestically, with some international travel possible How You Can Stand Out It would be impressive if you have one or more of these: Master's degree in engineering, physics, mathematics or other relevant technical discipline Experience with/understanding of US Space Command, US Space Forces - Space, NSDC, JOPC, MWC, and/or geographic space service component organizations and capabilities. Previous work with organizations such as USSPACECOM, DoD/OSD, HQ USSF, SPOs/Centers (i.e. Space Systems Command (SSC), Department of the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office (DAF RCO), Space Rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO , National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and other US agencies and mission partners to assist in understanding the Space Force's strategic priorities and direction. Bonus points for deep understanding of space/joint/combined data/system/ops integration needs beyond Vandenberg (e.g. Global COP, Joint Targeting Cycle, CCMD C2, Joint/other service systems of record, etc.)
Detailed involvement with coordinated commercial and multinational capability integration with space operations
Experience integrating multi-domain information flows in support of C2 (not just Space C2, total force C2)
Previous roles as a senior mentor to team members, providing technical guidance and professional development insight
Ability to apply Classification and Foreign Disclosure considerations to integration of space capabilities (i.e. authorities, roles/responsibilities, what/how to share, etc.)
Experience leading integrated technical contributors on large, complex issues and the ability to break down problems into meaningful steps to accomplish with a team Previous experience in effectively interacting with and advising USSF and government senior leaders on matters of strategic importance
Experience in Strategic and Operational planning processes Comprehensive experience in processes to support on-boarding and integrating emerging technologies for command-and-control operations
Knowledge of man-made threats to space systems
