Job description

THIS ROLE REQUIRES ONSITE WORK THROUGHOUT LOS ANGELES.

KORE1, a nationwide provider of staffing and recruiting solutions, has an immediate opening for a Cathodic Protection Technologist: 1+ year of SoCalGas experience, NACE cert, & SAP required

The Cathodic Protection Technologist focuses on managing the CP10 project at SoCalGas, which involves safeguarding isolated sections of steel pipelines from corrosion. This critical position demands an experienced professional who has previously worked with SoCalGas or as a contractor for them, with a deep understanding of cathodic protection compliance, including service replacements and underground short replacements. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills for evaluating service history and GIS data, proficiency in SoCalGas's SAP/CPD systems, and the ability to monitor construction statuses. Due to the specialized nature of this project, the role requires a candidate who can hit the ground running with minimal training, ensuring continuous monitoring and protection of the gas pipeline network. Proficiency in Excel and strong report-running capabilities are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze service history and GIS data to determine if a service qualifies under the CP10 replacement guideline.
  • Run reports and conduct research within SoCalGas' SAP/CPD systems for existing work, statuses, and more.
  • Monitor and check construction statuses to ensure project timelines and quality standards are met.
  • Conduct regular inspections and monitoring of cathodic protection systems on isolated steel pipeline sections.
  • Implement and manage CP10 protocols to ensure corrosion protection is maintained across the pipeline network.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to assess the effectiveness of cathodic protection measures and recommend improvements as needed.
  • Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance activities, and system performance for regulatory compliance and internal audits.
  • Respond promptly to any identified issues or anomalies in the cathodic protection system, implementing corrective actions to mitigate corrosion risks.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to field personnel involved in CP10-related activities.
