Description SAIC is seeking a Platform Operations Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert (SME) to advise on a solution for DevSecOps Platform and Space C2 Enablement in support of Operational C2 Acquisition Delta priorities to deliver integrated Ops Space C2 capabilities. You will play a crucial role in providing recommendations to deliver integrated Ops Space Command and Control (C2) capabilities. This position is based in El Segundo, CA. Support from other locations may be considered based on candidate qualifications. Fun stuff you will do on the job: As the Chief of Platform Operations on our team, you'll Develop and implement strategies to ensure the successful operation of the data and platform operations . This will include design, documentation, and briefings to senior leaders and stakeholders to drive stability, resiliency, scalability, and flexibility into the Space C2 systems architecture. Maintain the cyber posture of the platform, mitigating critical vulnerabilities, etc. You will interact and coordinate daily with numerous stakeholders with activities, including but not limited to, troubleshooting the platform system for anomalies; maintaining communications with development teams on new versions of tools, services, etc. Provide expert advice to the Program Manager and Senior Space Force Leadership regarding acquisition strategies, contracting, budgeting, and execution. Drive innovative solutions to deliver results to the warfighters that establish operational best practices and processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness. Assist the government with transition from prototype software systems to scalable enterprise microservice enabled applications ready for operational units. Sustain the development and refinement of acquisition strategies, as well as identify program execution issues and provide recommendations when possible. Generate presentation materials, status briefings, and strategic communication products to assist the government customer in achieving favorable program outcomes. Perform analyses of program business cases and risk assessments. Offer actionable recommendations to the program manager. Communicate technical strategy regarding infrastructure, platform, data, and application development to contractors, external stakeholders, program managers, and senior government leadership. Qualifications Required Experience: Bachelor's Degree and 14 years of experience; Master's Degree and 12 years of experience; PhD and 9 years of experience with implementing large scale, highly-available, complex platform solutions. Strong background with o verseeing day-to-day operations of data and platform operations teams . Knowledge of industry-standard data platforms. Familiarity with Site Reliability practices for observability and uptime management. Experience in supporting and/or managing technical programs throughout the software engineering life cycle. Experience designing, developing, operationalizing, implementing, and maintaining complex cloud applications at enterprise scale. Experience using containers and container management platforms such as Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Online Services, and/or Active Directory . Requires an active Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Program access, as well as a willingness to consent to a polygraph examination. Understanding of software changes and configuration management policies, implementing changes within pipeline development. (e.g. access management, monitoring, configuration management, etc.). Management of system configuration and monitoring changes to increase effectiveness or efficiencies in the systems capabilities toward monitoring and implementing logical access controls to enforce policy. Understanding of different levels of security controls, principles, and best-practices within commercial cloud offerings (e.g. access management, monitoring, configuration management, etc.) Managing systems to provide a secure computing environment, to include delivery of relevant and necessary software, relevant and necessary security patches, and providing detailed reporting on hardware assets, software assets and current configuration posture. Research and evaluates capabilities, tools, and products against operational requirements and introduces them to align with the overarching strategy. Experience with Cloud platforms like AWS, GCP and Azure. Familiarity with Kubernetes, Online Services, and Active Directory. Experience of setting up and leading Agile development. Experience implementing of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools. Experience with Confluence, JIRA and or smart sheets. Deployment Pipeline development. Application Programming Interface (API) development/management Certifications in any of the following Cloud Service Providers (CSPs): MAW, Azure, GCP, IBM Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Salesforce, or Adobe Cloud. Network design/administration experience Storage design/administration experience Target salary range: $200,001 - $240,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors. SAIC accepts applications on an ongoing basis and there is no deadline. Covid Policy: SAIC does not require COVID-19 vaccinations or boosters. Customer site vaccination requirements must be followed when work is performed at a customer site.
