Position Summary:
The Corporate Sanitarian provides sanitation, pest control, water systems and Food Safety expertise to support multiple manufacturing facilities. This position facilitates cross-functional collaboration to meet all requirements and key performance indicators in support of continuous improvement efforts. The Corporate Sanitarian collaborates and offers insight into hygienic design of equipment, the process room, production lines and facility projects. This position conducts on-site audits, training, verification and validation of sanitation and other key processes. The Corporate Sanitarian maintains a structured, standardized sanitation training program for the company to provide comprehensive training on proper sanitation practices and procedures for all employees.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Facilitate cross-functional collaboration and engagement with Operations, Quality/Food Safety, Engineering and Safety teams and communicates to internal stakeholders
Serve as key contact for Chemical, Pest Control and Equipment Supply vendors
Implement sanitation programs and meet key performance indicators (KPI's)
Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and balance resource conservation to ensure all quality and food safety requirements are met
Provide direction to facility teams in the development of systems, knowledge, capabilities, and practices in order to comply with all pertinent food regulations and company procedures as well as educate and provide technical support when needed
Monitor and report on emerging issues related to sanitation, micros, pest control, food safety, water systems, etc. and develop strategies, policies/procedures to mitigate risk
Monitor sanitation and pest control vendor reports to ensure all action items are being tracked and/or added to the Corrective Action programs and are closed out and verified
Conduct periodic sanitation and pest facility audits against the consistent application and execution of procedures and all related sanitation and pest practices
Provide technical support on effectiveness of plant sanitation and cleaning programs, i.e., Sanitation SOP's (SSOP)
Guide facilities during special manufacturing plant sanitation issues such as allergen cleans, microbiological and environmental controls
Assist in facilities' start-up activities including review of SSOP documentation and cleaning verification documents
Ensure facilities verify and validate Clean in Place (CIP), Cean-out-of-place (COP) and cleaning systems annually
Provide technical directions to facility Sanitarians to ensure that all records are completed, reviewed and signed off, i.e., chemical concentrations, CIP validations, pre-operational inspection, COP records, SSOP's, etc.
Understand food and environmental regulations and their impact on the company and customers
Promote consistency and align across facility departments when possible
Other projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree, and 8 plus years of experience in food production sanitation, microbiology and/or pest control and 4 plus years or HS Diploma/GED, 12 plus years of experience in food production sanitation, microbiology and/or pest control
Experience with diverse sanitizing applications, i.e., wet clean, dry clean, CIP and COP systems, automation
Experience managing environmental sanitation challenges in areas such as drains, floors, walls roofs, equipment in a facility
Experience managing a corporate Environmental Monitoring Program (EMP)
Excellent written and verbal communications skills with all levels of an organization
Strong collaboration, interpersonal and influencing skills
Experience managing remote locations
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong project management experience
Detail-oriented and organizational mindset
Travel up to 75%
This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Safety, Microbiology or related scientific field
Master's degree
Experience in Hygienic Design, Water Processing for Beverage, Internal/External sanitation training, CIP/COP processes
Ability to write and disseminate policies and procedures
Ability to understand and analyze issues involving beverage/juice/food manufacturing, project management, mathematics (including statistics), technical and legal documents and schematics
HACCP, Juice HACCP and PCQI certification
ISO and FSSC trained
Microbiological testing experience and training with ATP, EMP
