About the Department
The Strategy & Rare Disease (STARS) organization drives the long-term strategic direction of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI)/North America Operations (NAO) and leads all US commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk's Rare Disease portfolio. The mandate of STARS is to facilitate the development and to coordinate the execution of the long-term strategy, defining a sustainable business model in US beyond a 5-year time horizon. This department serves as the insiders of the US market when informing and help shaping upstream decisions around future investments and assets. The Rare Disease portfolio includes products in the hemophilia and growth disorders therapeutic areas, new products in the pipeline, and products acquired through business development efforts in existing and new areas. The STARS team collaborates and partners with groups across NAO, Research & Early Development, Development, innovation hubs across NN, other affiliates, and global. The Position
The Novo Nordisk Sickle Cell Community Liaison (SCCL) is a field-based, community-facing colleague who serves as the center of coordination for patient-related activities across the community and Novo Nordisk, Inc. (NNI). Their role is to engage with patients and caregivers, educate on disease state, NNI products (once available) and support offerings, and activate patients and caregivers in their own care. This is accomplished by engaging with patients and caregivers one-on-one and at community events. The Sickle Cell Community Liaison (SC CL) is expected to possess a high level of clinical and customer knowledge, have experience with headquarter protocols, and possess drive and spirit to engage the sickle cell community.
Relationship
The Sickle Cell Community Liaison is an individual contributor and reports directly to the Sickle Cell Community Liaison Leader. As a member of the Sickle Cell team, the SC CL will serve as a liaison to provide timely insights to sales, marketing, market access, patient support, public affairs and medical regarding market trends and competitive intelligence to inform new strategies and tactics that will meet the needs of the community. Externally, the Sickle Cell Community Liaison is responsible for owning relationships with patients, caregivers, local community-based organizations and specialty pharmacy representatives.
Essential Functions
- Education and Patient Engagement
- The SC CL serves as a single point of contact to build relationships with patients, caregivers, community-based patient organizations, patient advocacy groups, and specialty pharmacy representatives
- Engage patients and caregivers in education related to disease state, NNI products (once available), wellness, lifestyle, and NNI patient services
- Educate patients and caregivers so that they can take action in their own care resulting in patient driven demand for NNI products (once available)
- SC CLs are responsible for identifying key opportunities to educate on the importance of shared decision making and optimizing care
- The SC CL will provide education through one-on-one patient and caregiver meetings, small group meetings, patient conferences, local community-based organization events, and other community opportunities
Physical Requirements
50-75% overnight travel including working evening and weekend events. Driver must maintain a valid driver's license. Must be in good standing by not exceeding the Novo Nordisk points threshold assigned based on review of Motor Vehicle Records.
Qualifications
The base compensation range for this position is $80,670 to $141,170. Base compensation is determined based on a number of factors. This position is also eligible for a company bonus based on individual and company performance.
Novo Nordisk offers long-term incentive compensation and or company vehicles depending on the position's level or other company factors.
