Job description
About Us:
Pathway is a rapidly growing AI company at the cutting edge of technology, reshaping industries with innovative, deep-tech products. The founding team includes some of the world's top minds in AI, including a collaborator of Geoff Hinton - the recent recipient of the Nobel Prize in physics, and is backed by the inventor of Transformers (the "T" in GPT), as well as by top US VCs. We have just moved our headquarters from Europe to California and are looking for a key member of our US staff. As we scale, we are seeking a Director of Strategy to partner closely with our leadership team. This role is perfect for a 'get things done' strategic thinker with a consulting background (ex-McKinsey or similar) who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to make a significant impact.
Position Overview:
The Director of Strategy will act as a critical operations lead and strategic thought partner to the CCO, ensuring that its strategic initiatives and operations align with its growth ambitions. This role requires an individual with a robust consulting toolkit and experience who can manage complex projects, drive cross-functional collaboration, work with customers, and facilitate decision-making processes. You will serve as an "assistant to the CSO," taking ownership of special projects and helping translate the company's vision into actionable plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning & Execution: Work with the CEO and leadership team to define and drive the company's strategic roadmap. Translate high-level strategies into actionable projects, ensuring cross-functional alignment and timely execution.
Market & Competitive Analysis: Research and analyze industry trends, competitors, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decisions. Develop data-driven insights and recommendations for growth and expansion.
Project Management: Lead and manage critical projects across initiatives, ensuring milestones are met and communication is streamlined.
Operational Support: Act as the CSO's strategic right-hand, participating in critical meetings - both internal and external, and preparing executive presentations.
Performance Tracking: Establish key metrics and KPIs to monitor the progress of strategic initiatives. Develop reports and dashboards to keep the board informed of progress and areas for improvement.
Business Development Support: Collaborate on business development initiatives, including partnerships, product expansions, and market entry strategies.
Leadership Team Coordination: Organize and lead strategic offsites, workshops, and internal meetings. Ensure that follow-ups and deliverables from leadership team discussions are executed effectively.
Requirements
You have a 3-5+ years of experience from a top-tier management consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) as a Business Analyst, Associate, or similar role.
You have a bachelor's degree; an MBA or advanced degree is a plus. A technical background in engineering, AI, or advanced math is helpful but not required.
You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
You have excellent project management and communication skills and love getting things done.
You feel at ease leading cross-functional initiatives and influencing internal and external stakeholders and have a track record of it.
You have an entrepreneurial mindset. You feel comfortable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a strong sense of ownership and initiative. Adaptability is strongly rooted in your nature
