Rate: $20.00 - $25.00 an hour
Shift differential for shifts starting after 3pm

Working in close collaboration with the Life Enrichment Manager and Director of Life Enrichment and Transportation, the Life Enrichment Assistant maintains an active and diverse program for residents. This includes but is not limited to developing, implementing, leading, and documenting attendance of activities. Such activities may include, but are not limited to fitness classes, brain health programs, performances, social events, discussion groups, excursions and other such recreation and leisure activities. They will also assist with resident's personal assessments and HUR workout plans, and helping residents reach their fitness goals in the gym.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Working collaboratively with the Life Enrichment Manager, develop activities that provide opportunities for residents to experience sensory input, group interaction, and personal achievement.
- Record each resident's care plans, activity assessment's, progress notes, attendance, and level of participation in all group and individual programs and activities in the electronic medical record (EMR) Point Click Care.
- In conjunction with the Fitness Coordinator, schedules and conducts new resident orientation gym sessions on HUR exercise equipment usage.
- Assists with implementing and monitoring safe, effective, and enjoyable exercise programs that will meet the unique needs of residents.
- Monitors resident progress, and updates related records.
- Attend care conferences, staff meetings, in-services, mandatory training events and other appropriate meetings as required/directed by The Redwoods and/or the department.
- Report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your supervisor immediately.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care and protected health information as required by HIPAA and by Redwood's policy. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information.
- Support volunteers who have been assigned to assist with activities. Report any/all inappropriate conduct to the Volunteer & Production Coordinator as soon as possible.
- Help maintain an adequate and organized inventory of activity supplies and equipment.
- Assure that resident rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to wage complaints are followed.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Possession of an Activity Leader certification as outlined in Title 22 - preferred.
- Prior experience working with seniors is preferred, including an understanding of therapeutic methods applied to activities for older adults.
- Experience teaching classes.
- Have the ability to understand and speak English at a level which allows the safe, efficient performance of the job.
- Must have your own transportation for purchasing supplies.
- Must demonstrate excellent skills in reading writing, speaking and understanding the English language. Other languages a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physical effort required for daily duties include lifting, squatting, bending, reaching, twisting, stooping for long periods of time.
- Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet. Must be able to walk distances equal to the length of the campus (approximately 5-7 acres).
- Must be able to feel, hear, see, smell, speak, and taste adequately to perform essential job functions.
- Manual dexterity required to handle equipment.
