My client is a leading food manufacturing company specializing in seafood products, based in Monterey, California. We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Plant Manager to oversee the operations of our food manufacturing facility.

Description

The responsibilities of the Plant Manager for the seafood manufacturing company in northern California are

    1. Responsibilities:

      • Operations Management:

        • Lead day-to-day operations of the seafood manufacturing plant, ensuring production targets are met while maintaining high-quality standards.
        • Implement and oversee production schedules, ensuring efficient use of resources and adherence to budgetary constraints.
        • Monitor production processes to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize workflow efficiency.
      • Quality Assurance and Food Safety:

        • Uphold strict adherence to food safety regulations (FDA, HACCP, etc.) and company quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.
        • Implement and maintain quality assurance programs to ensure product integrity and consistency.
        • Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance with food safety and quality standards.
      • Team Leadership and Development:

        • Provide strong leadership to the plant team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
        • Recruit, train, and develop staff to enhance skills and capabilities within the plant.
        • Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback to ensure team alignment with company goals.
      • Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance:

        • Ensure a safe working environment for all plant employees by implementing and enforcing safety policies and procedures.
        • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability initiatives.
      • Budget and Cost Management:

        • Develop and manage the plant budget, controlling costs and expenditures within approved budgets.
        • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement measures to improve operational efficiency.
      • Relationship Management:

        • Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth supply chain operations and resolve any issues that may arise.
        • Collaborate with other departments (such as procurement, logistics, and sales) to optimize overall business operations and meet customer demands.

Profile

A successful Plant Manager candidate in food processing must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field;
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in plant management within the food manufacturing industry, preferably in seafood processing.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (FDA, HACCP, etc.) and quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Experience managing budgets and achieving financial targets.
