Amgen Pre-Pivotal Drug Substance Technologies Organization is seeking a Scientist to join the Cell Line Development group at the Amgen headquarters campus located in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Cell Line Development group is responsible for developing production cell lines for Amgens large molecule pipeline.
In this role, the candidate will be responsible for supporting pipeline program advancement, contributing to development of innovative methods for improving single cell cloning technologies and generating relevant data toward regulatory submissions, publications and patent applications. The candidate will work in a team environment, collaborating with colleagues in Process Development, Discovery, as well as interact with regulatory and quality experts in support of global regulatory filings. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in molecular biology, mammalian cell culture and single cell cloning.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and characterize manufacturing cell lines, including DNA cloning, transfection, selection, single cell cloning and clone scale up, clone screening and cell banking
Support cell engineering and characterization activities
Maintain electronic laboratory notebooks
Generate written reports and communicate project updates
Implement automation solutions and innovative strategies to improve single cell cloning and clone screening
Generate relevant data toward publications, patent applications, and regulatory submissions

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and 4 years of Scientific experience OR
Masters degree and 2 years of Scientific experience OR
Doctorate degree
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD with 2+ years of experience or MS with 8+ years of experience or BS with 10+ years of relevant industrial experience
Previous hands-on experience in cell culture with a focus on mammalian cell recombinant protein production
Strong scientific understanding of recombinant protein expression, cell line and gene editing technologies
Strong interpersonal skills and a proactive leadership mentality
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to design and troubleshoot experiments, strong attention to detail
Demonstrated ability to deliver on timelines and adapt to rapid changes in project priorities
Experience with automation and use in high throughput cell culture is a plus
Experience with microscopy and assay development is preferred but not essential

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
