Job description
Job Summary Candidate is responsible for installing, maintaining, improving, testing and troubleshooting data processing and data distribution systems. This process involves integrating legacy peripherals with latest technology hardware. A strong background with PC components is essential. Candidate will troubleshoot connectivity issues while onboard ships during installations and while providing mission support at Norco or one of the various remote facilities we support. Candidate will provide privilege level help desk support for data analysis enclaves utilizing Window Server Environments. Majority of tasking will be provided with training due to proprietary systems. Candidate will at times be required to make decisions on the fly in order to guarantee mission success. This technician performs non-routine and complex assignments involving responsibility for planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project, selects and adapts plans, techniques, designs, or layouts, contacts personnel in related activities to resolve problems and coordinate the work, reviews, analyzes, and integrates the technical work of others. Supervisor or professional engineer outlines objectives, requirements, and design approaches. Completed work is reviewed for technical adequacy and satisfaction of requirements. Expected to train and be assisted by lower level technicians. Responsibilities Perform daily duties by providing engineering technical support, help desk functions, Network connectivity checks Inventory and catalog hardware and software for all IT Telecommunications systems during the design, development, integration, and installation phases Troubleshooting knowledge of Computer and Network Hardware Build or prepare Computer systems for deployment Classified and unclassified shipping support Organization and labeling of workspaces for parts and system Cable management of workspaces Travel in support of range support during test events Basic Qualifications DoD Secret Clearance required CompTIA Sec+ (Must have prior to hiring) Support product suites that are composed of multiple networking hardware and software products. Provide IT system integration, installation, test and de-installation of 7 to 10 unclassified and classified telecommunication systems supported by the branch on ships and other participating sites. Provide IT/Data system operation and management Understand how a network operates. I.E., data flows, TCP/IP process, etc. Understand the Active Directory environment at a basic level I.E., creating/deleting/unlocking accounts Understand Network documentation that describes physical and logical as well as implementation and management standards Perform daily branch duties by providing engineering technical support and willingness to assist with help desk functions Inventory and catalog hardware and software for all IT Telecommunications systems during the design, development, integration, and installation phases Basic troubleshooting knowledge of Computer Hardware and Network Hardware Build or prepare Computer systems for deployment Good Communication and Customer Service skills Understanding of server architecture, applications and security Troubleshooting system and user problems Knowledge of and understanding of basic networking like DHCP, TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, IP addresses, and User Profiles Ability to lift 35+ pounds Must be able to accommodate 25% travel (at times on Naval Ships) Preferred Qualifications Associates or Bachelor degree in an Information Technology related field MCSA Windows Server 2016 - 2019 Cisco CCENT/CCNA, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Server McAfee Host Based Security Systems (HBSS) Experience managing Windows Server Active Directory Experience managing Windows Server Group Policies Experience with DoD Cyber Security (CS) policies and tools 2-3 years of database, network administration, or system administration experience System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, or other network related fields Demonstrate the ability to follow instructions PowerShell scripting VMware VSphere Immediate(Required) Must have U.S Citizenship DoD Secret Clearance required Certifications: CompTIA Sec+ Operating System - Windows Server 2019 and Windows 10 Training or certification on Windows 10 and/or Windows Server Location: NSWC Corona
