Your Role

The Director, Product Operations is a pivotal leadership role within Blue Shield of California, responsible for defining and managing the operational aspects of the product lifecycle across the portfolio. This role ensures that our product offerings (technology and services) are effectively brought to market, maintained and continuously improved. The Director will be responsible for defining the day-day operational model and leading cross functional teams from idea discovery through product offering launch, market response and ongoing operations, ensuring alignment with cross functional teams, including market and technology teams. The Director will have a significant impact on Blue Shield of California by ensuring our products are efficiently and effectively managed throughout the lifecycle. This role will enhance our market position, improve customer satisfaction and contribute to the overall success of Blue Shield of California.

The Director, Product Operations will have the following responsibilities:

Operational Strategy and Leadership: Oversee from inception to launch, strategic operations of the portfolio product implementation lifecycle ensuring alignment with company goals and market demands.

Process Optimization: Develop and refine processes for product offering management development, launch, and lifecycle management to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Influence and lead coordination with product, legal, regulatory, engineering, marketing, sales, and other departments to ensure seamless product operations and successful launches, across the product offering lifecycle.

Resource Management: Oversee resource allocation, budgets, and timelines to ensure each phase of the product lifecycle is optimized and completed on schedule and within scope. Works with a high degree or responsibility for resources and influence business and market decisions based on functional need across the lifecycle.

Market Analysis: Conduct ongoing market analysis and competitive benchmarking to inform operational strategies and identify areas for improvement.

Stakeholder Communication: Communicate with parties within and outside of job functions, clearly communicate and work to influence others to accept / view practices and approaches. Serve as the primary point of contact for executive leadership on product operations progress, challenges, and successes.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks in product operations and implement mitigation strategies to address them proactively. Effective communication and problem solving across teams to reduce risk.

Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure operational success and guide future efforts.

Customer Feedback Integration: Ensure customer feedback is integrated into product operations to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.

Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement, identifying and implementing best practices to enhance product operations.

Your Knowledge and Experience

Typically, requires a college degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 10 years in Healthcare Product experience, including 6 years of management experience

Requires a minimum of 3 years' experience with a health plan with experience in health plan operations

Requires Product Management Lifecycle operations experience

Requires experience communicating progress and updates with leadership and the ability influence to gain buy-in

Requires in-depth knowledge of the healthcare system

Requires experience with change management processes

Pay Range:

The pay range for this role is: $(phone number removed) to $(phone number removed) for California.

Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
