Job description

Math Teacher Holy Names High School, a small Catholic school for young women, is seeking a math educator to teach one Algebra 1 course, and provide instructional and small group support in Algebra 2 and Precalculus courses. Holy Names serves a culturally, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse student body. The math teacher is part of the Math Department and reports directly to the Math Department chair. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent college graduate to gain experience in mathematics education. This applicant would be needed primarily on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and Friday mornings. Job Responsibilities Promote critical thinking and problem solving through the use of the Engage New York Algebra 1 curriculum Review curriculum and devise alternate approaches to presenting lessons to increase student understanding Differentiate instruction when necessary to reach all levels of learners Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators to ensure all students are successfully progressing through the program Communicate student progress in a timely manner by posting grades, completing progress reports and conducting parent conferences Minimum Qualifications Commitment to the mission of Holy Names High School and its success Ability to engage and connect with a diverse group of students Demonstrated competence in high school level mathematics Strong communication and organization skills Background in education/youth development Preferred Qualifications Experience working with youth; previous teaching experience Comfortable with educational software; adept at learning new technologies Schedule will be part-time starting immediately.
