Job description

Join our team as a Media Specialist and support the US Marine Corps Operations Maintenance and Technical Services (OMTS) and Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) by assisting in the development of multi-media products. This will ensure that all visual and media materials effectively communicate MCTSSA's mission and strategic goals while maintaining a high standard of professionalism. This impact enhances stakeholder engagement, reinforces MCTSSA's brand identity, and supports seamless communication both internally and externally. Work Schedule and Location: On-Site: This full-time on-site position will work Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm at Camp Pendelton, CA. Responsibilities Transport cameras, video equipment, and necessary gear safely to various locations Take still photos and video in training areas, including the areas known as MCTSSA South and the "tomato patch" during test execution Test, clean, maintain, and repair recording equipment, including testing microphones, to ensure proper working condition Use traditional or digital cameras, along with a variety of equipment, such as tripods, filters, and flash attachments Adjust positions and controls of cameras and related equipment to change focus, exposure, and lighting Observe test locations for potential problems and to determine filming and lighting requirements Organize and parse raw footage into continuous video according to scripts or the instructions of the customer Trim film segments to specified lengths and reassemble segments in sequences Set up and operate computer editing systems, electronic titling systems, video switching equipment, and digital video effects units to produce a final product Select and combine the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smooth-running story Edit films and videotapes to insert music, dialogue, and sound effects, to arrange films into sequences, and to correct errors using editing equipment Review footage, sequence by sequence, to become familiar with it before assembling into a final product Confer with government personnel concerning layout or editing approaches needed to increase value of productions Compose and frame each shot, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses, film, filters, and camera settings, to achieve the effects sought by customer Edit video for production and archiving, including non-linear editing using software, such as CyberLink PowerDirector Maintain inventory of audio-visual equipment Compress, digitize, duplicate, and store audio and video data Manipulate and enhance scanned or digital images to create desired effects, using computers and specialized software, such as Adobe Photoshop Transfer photographs to computers for editing, archiving, and electronic transmission Review sets of photographs to select the best work Test equipment prior to use to ensure that it is in good working order Develop, edit, review, and revise MCTSSA products, such as but not limited to, PowerPoint presentations, vignettes, brochures, and other marketing materials to ensure uniformity with MCTSSA branding, ensuring that products are professional and maximize strategic communications Collaborate with stakeholders and update the MCTSSA internal and forward-facing webpages Coordinate and ensure that the read boards throughout the MCTSSA compound are updated Qualifications Active Secret clearance Requires a high school diploma (Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science Preferred) 1-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a related field FedWriters is an Equal Opportunity Employer, including disability/vets.
