Your Role on the Team

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Health Educator to join our team specializing in educating students about opioid use disorder (OUD) and promoting best practices for prevention, intervention, and treatment. This role is crucial in equipping students with essential knowledge and skills to make informed decisions regarding opioid use and to foster a healthy and supportive school environment.
What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Knowledge of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and Substance Abuse with the understanding of Opioid Pharmacology.
  • Knowledgeable about genetic, environmental, and psychological factors contributing to opioid misuse and addiction.
  • Familiarity with Prevention Strategies with insight into effective strategies and evidence-based practices for preventing opioid misuse among adolescents.
  • Skilled in creating lesson plans, interactive activities, and multimedia resources tailored to diverse learning styles and age groups.
  • Ability to incorporate current research and local health data into educational content to ensure relevance and accuracy.
  • Proficient in aligning curriculum with state and national health education standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge to utilize a variety of instructional strategies, including lectures, discussions, role-playing, and digital media, to engage students and facilitate learning.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and open dialogue about sensitive topics.
  • Skilled in adjusting teaching approaches based on student feedback and assessment outcomes to meet diverse learning needs and interests.
  • Skilled in offering empathetic support to students seeking advice or assistance regarding opioid use and addiction.
  • Ability to create a safe space for students to discuss their concerns about substance use and mental health without fear of judgment.
  • Knowledgeable about resources and support services available for students affected by opioid use disorder and able to make appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with school counselors, administrators, and other staff to integrate opioid education into broader health initiatives.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Minimum 2 years experience in opioid use disorder education and/or research projects.
